Why do people put their real life faces on their profile pics?
Don’t you think that’s a bit risky nowadays? I see this most often in CS2 than anywhere else. Why is that?

People can Google reverse that image and find your social media and expose information. You even have online tools that can go into a photos code to even determine what mobile phone or camera it was taken from. Not a good idea if one day you anger the wrong person with mental problems in a match whether it is casual or competitive mode.

i don't understand why people feel the need to share their private life on virtual life tbh.

there's nothing good about it.
Some parts are worth sharing though.
With all third party services scraping the web i won't share anything on the net.
just look at clearview AI and what they're doing.

I am not too worried about that, I do account for it though.

There's a difference between making content (if you have a decent face, people will want to watch for your expressions) and putting it as your profile picture. People who put it as their profile picture in games usually love the look of themselves.

You mentioned youtubers, so name 1 streamer or youtuber who puts their own face on their steam profile. The only one I know is this guy https://steamcommunity.com/id/nightwere who is the only person ever to be permanently banned off FaceIT for being verbally abusive.

Meme pictures like a photoshop of your face onto some pro player's body doesn't count, that's just funny.

because not everyone is as lucky in life as you, some people have no family and no girlfriend and they're desperate and want to find someone.
dating websites nowdays are all nonsense, full of ads and fake accounts, you will only find more headaches and stress there.
that's why lot of people try to find that special someone via online gaming.

i personally know two people who got lucky and found their wife in a game.
that's why people do it, but you won't understand it if you have happy life and online gaming is nothing more to you than like watching a movie.

to you online community means nothing, to some it means everything. people are different, some are lucky, some are not, but everyone wants to be happy, so people look happiness wherever they can.

What's everything to one person, is nothing to other person. don't judge someone only because you don't understand their life. if you had no family, no girlfriend and nothing else in life, you'd be sharing your life online aswell, in hope to find that special someone.

I explained it. Steam/Gaming is a toxic place, especially CS.
You barely show your face. This does not count. We talk about real photos.
it is a real photo
You didn't understand it. Real photos in terms of an actual photo of a person without filter, weird closeups, black-whitening etc.

Not sure why you don't understand that. It looks like all you try to do is bait because it's so obvious that this photo can't be taken as an example of a real life person. Nobody sees anything at all in that photo. If you think posting real life photos on steam is fine then post actual photos from you. But you are afraid of doing that - for a good reason - this is not the place for such things.

it is normal to put a filter on an image, it happens all the time

It's a dream to have a gamer wife :D
Dudes worried about something complicated when there are easier ways to find out things.
The comments saying they would let someone "see what happens" if they get doxxed are funny

What even is your point? We talk about real life pictures. Not altered pictures to a point where you can't notice anything, even the face is completely unnoticeable. Why are you baiting so much here?

This is absolute clown thread. Better question is...why do you care?

I already answered this, I don’t need a reason to care, I’m asking a question.
