me too
this is me and this is true. my ♥♥♥♥ stutters and the only way to fix it is to change res, then change res again.
=> download vibranceGUI
=> put "-windowed -noborder" in your cs2 launch options
- if still in fullscreen, put "windowed" in video settings and put to your desired stretched resolution
=> go into vibranceGUI
=> add cs2
=> double click on cs2 icon
=> check the box for "change resolution when ingame"
=> change the resolution to your desired stretched resolution, not your native resolution and save
=> restart game
example: native for me is 3440x1440 so i put game to 2560x1440 and change vibrancegui ingame res to "2560x1440 @144hz (32 bit, Stretch)"
wrong, this is yet another false myth.
1) it's called minimizing, not alt tabbing (because there are other ways of minimizing a program than using alt+tab)
2) this is how windows works, if you minimize program, specially a fullscreen program, then windows will consider that program as "background program" and will reduce resource allocation, which is why resource-intensive programs usually crash or break.
this is normal behaviour in windows, you are just using your computer wrong. that's why it breaks.
this is why steam overlay was invented for.
i don't get the need to minimize games .. WHY? just play the game and stop itching ...
i could explain in detail why most programs "break" when minimized, but in shortest and simplest way possible, it's because most programs are not suppose to run as "background programs" as they require resources to run.
it's kind of like if your PC requires certain amount of power (amps) to run, but you take it away, then PC doesn't have enough and will crash if it tries to use more power.
that said, i can minimize cs2 just fine. you probably running unlocked framerate, which is why it breaks as unlocked requires 100% power at all times.
Test to see if it's your system, or the code not being optimized. If you load up an offline server, put 5 bots in there, throw a molotov down, then hit whatever key you bound to spam to make the server repeat that molotov
Watch the fps go from 700 to....sometimes 20
It's the code being unoptimized. It shouldn't crash the fps that much
Won't open back up so gotta close up and restart. Somebody said it was an AMD thing. Workaround is to make it windowed in video settings but who wants to do that all the time
Windows 10/11 changed how the windows work on the operating system level. I know I spent a week with win32 api writing the window class for my game engine.
There is no true fullscreen anymore I guess. Alot of these problem can be solved by setting your game to fullscreen windowed, performance wise there should be no difference. (a topic of great debate)
Ive actually read from a few people that using the fullscreen option was breaking input or something or hitboxes for them. Basically shots/keys wouldnt register correctly. I alt tab all the time to play/stop music, or read while dead. I have never noticed anything, more than the normal ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that has existed since cs source.
I was reading the system requirements for this game the other day.
There is no way in hell this game runs fine on a first generation i5.
Valve is completely disconnected from reality atm.
