I would suggest reaching out to professional organizations that specialize in gambling addiction and recovery. They can provide guidance, resources, and support to help you break free from your addiction.
It's crucial to focus on your mental health and well-being. Seek professional help, such as a therapist or counselor, to address the underlying issues that may have contributed to your gambling addiction.
Remember, recovery is a journey, and it's essential to be patient and persistent in seeking help and support.
Saddest part? They're not even obliged to make as much money as possible, Valve is privately owned. They could do better. But they don't, and they haven't for more than a decade now.
Shame on you Valve and the CS team, burn in hell.
The only thing I can suggest is to seek help from people who have experienced the same thing as you and have recovered. Recovering from addiction is most difficult if you're doing it alone. If you have a job focus your pay on your debt but only after you've spent money on essentials (housing and food) and see if you can make a payment plan, depending on where you live (I could be wrong about this) but if you are obviously struggling to make payments you can request to make a payment plan and who you are indebted to are obligated to find something that works for the both of you. If that is not an option you can seek to have a bank buy off your debt and start a payment plan with them. Sometimes when a company sees that they might not get payed they are willing to cut some losses and sell your debt for less than owed to get a large sum now instead of small sums over years. I would rather owe a bank than a suspicious, obviously predatory gambling company. Look into debt acquisition.
It seems you're quite concerned about under age gambling so if you ever do recover mentally and financially, perhaps dedicate a part of your life to lobbying/advocating for stricter gambling laws or to helping other recovering addicts. Recently I've seen some states in the US outright ban pornography sites that don't require proper age verification so pushing for law like that might not be out of the question.
Good luck.
Doesn't take away from the fact that Valve ruins a certain percentange of people's lives for their own greed / corporate profit, including underage adolescents. They should be sued for the evil things they do, sadly the law has not caught up. Except in France and Belgium.
I feel for you and I cant even imagine how hard it is for you
Please, reach out for professional help: its not the end of the road. I'm speaking from my own experience here
Spoken like someone who has never experienced addiction first hand or even through someone else.
I wish it were that simple.
Us humans think were so evolved, but were just really monkeys still playing with rocks.
