but the Valve Anti Cheat System is working as intended
shown on the Steam VAC Discussion Forum here
https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/9/
every single day 24/7 got people complaining about False VAC Bans on the forum which the link i provide.
majority of them who complain comes from CS 2.
i don't think reporting for cheating does anything, i don't think those buttons even work, other than displaying a message that report was sent.
MAYBE if they get MASS reports every match, it might decrease their trust factor.
somewhere i read that reporting for cheats triggers VAC live scan. it means it scans their game's memory and files and running processes, but i don't see how that's helpful, since VAC does those scans every 5 mins or so anyways.
it won't hurt to report them anyways. personally i report player every time i think they cheat. if i spectate a teammate and see teammate or enemy pull some suspicious stuff, then i report.
because they don't want to. about 20 years ago i spoke to 2 valve devs about VAC, they specifically said that they are not aiming to eliminate all cheats, instead they only aim to ban known public cheats and tools (such as cheat engine).
they also said they don't want to do hardware or IP bans as this will result in lot of friendly fire where legit players get banned only cuz they use shared PC.
nowdays we have cloud gaming, gaming cafes and also shared computers within family. you can't hardware ban someone only cuz they use shared PC, that's common sense.
rockstar games is doing IP bans and it's as dumb as it can get. most ISPs nowdays have dynamic IP, including me. my IP changes every day, i was once playing gta 5 when IP changed and i got banned only cuz i got somebody's previously banned IP.
my account wasn't effected, but i couldn't play until next day when IP changed again.
this is how dumb IP and hardware bans are. i even made a video on it and it got lot of views and lot of people said same stuff has happened to them.
however steam does track emails and phones. if cheater uses same email and/or phone on multiple accounts and one account gets banned, then so will all others.
can easily tell people are ignoring my post purposely.
