Anyone else has this annoying weapon switch bug?
Is this happening to anyone else?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVUF5qt7_sU

this stuff keeps happening to me randomly, not too often, but often enough to get on my nerves. maybe like 10 times in past 2 months? and i haven't even played that much, only 10 hours per week, probably less.
there's more info about the bug in video description.

Hmm, I had this happen once or twice before. I was thinking it was because I accidentally clicked a button, but now I think it was same bug. My fingers are not big enough to fit on more than 1 button at a same time :)

ah ah at first i didn't pay attention to it either, i thought maybe i misclicked one of the side buttons on mouse (i have quick swap there), but that's definetly a bug. wasn't clicking anything, it just takes knife/taser out after 1 shot.

could be some desync maybe, but it's starting to get annoying.

Maybe your mouse is bugged or dirty, and it triggers mouse wheel, when you are clicking close to it?

i quote myself:
"if this was issue with hardware or hotkey software, it would do this in other games and in windows aswell, but this ONLY happens in cs2."

it's yet another cs2-only issue. it's been happening for about 2-3 months. only thing i can think of, it's some server desync .. but why/how? i never lag and i always have low ping. i have my matchmaking ping set to 25 (lowest possible), so i never end up in servers with over 30ms.

it always seem to be happening when i'm lining up a kill shot aswell ... as if game is trolling me :/

also i don't bash my buttons like a rhino, i'm very gentle with tech :)
altho i did test by slapping both mice around a bit to see if anything triggers, but nope, not hardware issue, all buttons work as they should, no accidental clicks.

as about mouse wheel .. i don't even have weapon switch on wheel. i switch weapons with number keys or quick swap only.
first thing i do in EVERY GAME, is go thru all possible settings and optimize everything to my liking.

me too! At first I was thinking my mouse is broken, but this happens only in CS.
I was about to shoot enemy and then all of the sudden I have knife in my hand and then I got kicked because other players were thinking that I was trolling :(

I was hitting my had to the wall for good 2 months . Tried everything , had lag / weapon switch bug .
Bug was gone after I re - enabled GPU accelerator in Google ( previously had it disabled )
I did same for MS Edge .
You can also try with disabling sticky keys .
I also DISABLED two rules in firewall :
mousecoreworker.exe
textinputhost.exe

huh? you're not making any sense. google and edge have nothing to do with cs2.
neither do the processes you mentioned.
also i don't have edge nor ie, i use firefox. i don't use google either, i use duckduckgo or yandex.

mousecoreworker is part of windows update, i don't use windows update. as PC expert i know that updates are not your friend, they're your enemy. don't update things that aren't broke. my old windows xp laptop is proof of that, it's been running fine for over 20 years, no need to update anything. i did have to update core certs for firefox to be able to load https, but otherwise it's fine.

textinputhost.exe is technically related to input devices, but not in a way you think. it does not require internet connection, no idea what you on about. it's local process and doesn't go to internet.

game mechanics don't even require GPU at all, therefore graphics settings can't possibly effect this in any way.
code itself that runs game mechanics is very small. reason why games take so much space nowdays, is because of graphics and audio.
game code itself is maybe like 50mb or less, rest are just graphics (textrues, 3d models, shaders ..etc) and audio.

Well, I know what did trick to me .
Turns out that Steam using Google Chromium engine .
About those 2 things I mention above - yes they are showed in firewall , and using internet for good knows what reason ...

Steam is not cs2. Steam is only required to authenticate that you own the game, otherwise steam has nothing to do with how cs2 runs or works.

i think you're talking about windows default firewall, it detects all executable programs, even if they don't use internet.
i suggest don't rely on default firewall, as it doesn't do much.
i use "windows 10 firewall control", which is 3rd party program. it's lightweight and minimalistic, but it pops up alert whenever a new or modified program tries to connect, it also shows where it connects to, but unlike default windows firewall, it only shows alert when program actually tries to connect.
neither of those .exe files exist in my firewall.

what you saying still makes no sense, how exactly you imagine this would cause random switch to knife/taser in cs2? it's literally not related.
if it was related even remotely, then blocking it in firewall would cause all input from working, right?

and how exactly did you measure it? i've been playing cs2 for about 7 months and this issue only started in past 2-3 months and happened less than 10 times, how can you possibly say this is the cause? you'd have to play 4+ hours per day for minimum of 1 month to know whetever it's fixed or not, but even then cs2 could have update that fixes it. you can't say this without any proof that this was the cause or that it's even fixed.

as a pc expert, i know it's related to some sort of server <> client desync, but it's hard to tell without debugging, to determine what part of code causes this.

in dayz standalone, similar issue happened all the time. they had some seriously bad networking code. it had exactly same type of desync, where i was holding a gun on my screen, but on my friend's screen i was actually crouched inside grass, not holding any weapon at all.
or on my screen i was inside the house, trying to loot, but i wasn't able to pick anything up .. then my friend says "eeem .. you're outside the house, running into a wall"

this kind of stuff doesn't happen because of steam or windows update or because of your input devices, it only happens due desync between server <> client, which is always related to networking as this is only way to make multiplayer games.

i might report this bug to support, but i'm sure i get generic bla bla in return, something like "check game files integrity" or "reboot your pc" ... that's why i haven't bothered, i just wanted to see if others are having same issue and feedback says i'm not only one (didn't think i was).
This is happening to me multiple times a day, depending no matter what keyboard I use and what mouse I use
