PLEASE HELP!
Okay, I'm at the brink of giving up. Just to begin, I don't know much about computers however I like playing CS a ton. I had an older asus beginner laptop (don't know the specs but it was a low model) that ran CS perfectly fine as far as ping and packet loss goes, it just had 120fps max even with graphics on the lowest settings.

Fast forward, the laptop took a dump and I had to buy a new one. I decided to spend a little more on it and bought a lenovo Legion laptop that has a Nvidia GTX 4060 graphics card and an AMD ryzen 7000 7 series.

I play this game via wifi (as I always have) and now I get horrible ping spikes with packet loss. I've done all the settings, cache clearing, router restarts, verifying game files, extremely restricted bandwith, -vulkan, -threads 9 -high.....you name it...the game still goes from 10 ping to 400 ping then back down all throughout the game. After following some steps on Youtube by deleting %temp% files and deleting some other file in program86 files, now the game doesnt even open.

Pleaseeeeeeee, HELPPPPP

its happening to me as well. I wish there was a fix or if Valve could fix it, the game is unplayable for me right now.

You could try to get a wifi extender. I bought one from asus, you connect the extender to you computer via cable.

The only reason I haven’t tried this option is cause I played in the exact same spot as my old laptop and had no issues. Do you think that with a new laptop, its connectivity could be different?

1) DO NOT RUN UNLOCKED FPS .... why do people keep doing that? unlocked fps is for STRESS TESTING and BENCHMARKING only, are you stress testing or benchmarking your laptop?

2) wi-fi isn't the best option, if that's only way you can have internet, get yourself 5ghz wifi adapter, just make sure your router supports 5ghz, if not, get a range extender that supports 5ghz and connect it to router via ethernet, then between your laptop and extender you have 5ghz.

3) turn shadows on low in every game, shadows are worst resource hogs, enable FidelityFX and adjust according to your laptop's capabilities.

I have GTX 1080 and i run cs2 in 1440p 60fps with only 20-25% GPU usage. runs like a dream.

Sorry but I don’t know what some of that means lol I’m not savy with computers.

How do I check if I have unlocked fps?
What does benchmarking my laptop mean?

I’ll look into the 5ghz WiFi thing. I just thought it wouldn’t be a WiFi issue since I played via WiFi with my old laptop. Thanks for your input though!

Lock your FPS in Nvidia -
Max Frame Rate - set FPS close to your monitor HZ .
In my case 144 Hz - I set 160 FPS .
