If they just disconnect there's obviously that 5 minute grace time you have to wait out because it's possible the disconnected player is just having issues with their game, pc, connection or whatever and might reconnect again later.

If you wouldn't lose ELO for surrendering matches people would probably start abusing it and make someone the fall guy as soon as they see they're losing 5vs5
It would probably be very disruptive and frustrating if every game that had a disconnect early would lead to the match being cancelled even if you had played out 3-5 rounds during that 5 minutes grace period.
Just put yourself in the shoes of the winning side wasting 10 minutes for nothing.
You win some, you lose some. If you never run into connection issues or rage quit your games you're also more likely to be the benefactor since the enemy team has 5 and you only 4 wild cards on your team
All of my friends already won 10 games, so I had to play solo.
