Why are there no IP bans for repeat cheaters?
Nobody wants to play an FPS on a VPN, your ping will be between 200-300ms. Everyone knows HWID spoofers prevent gaming companies from banning HWIDs but most local IPs are static and don't change. Can someone explain why perma IP bans aren't a solution?

Valve just doesn't care at all, they make so much money already from children and addicts gambling on cases and capsules.

VPN's shouldn't cause that much extra latency. In some cases a VPN can actually make your connection to valve servers better do to valve having inferior routing in some cases.

Valve could make cheating very difficult, and get rid of like 90% of them, but they just don't care, the community doesn't care either it seems.

because IP ban does nothing, you need to learn what IP is and how it works.
99% of ISPs nowdays have dynamic IP, this means it changes every day, you want to get banned because you are assigned IP that has previously been banned?

in case you don't understand, IPs are recycled on daily basis.
all IP bans achieve, is getting tens of thousands of innocent players banned, also what about some college that uses same IP for like 100+ students? they should all get banned because 1 of them cheats?

you're not thinking what you asking for

You can't ban local IPs like 192.168.1.x and if you ban an external/public IP then you may end up banning a whole bunch of devices that all share the same public IP (see NAT).

Nats and dynamic ips are why it does not work. Dynamic ips change and they are the default option from almost all isps. Nat is multiple users connecting behind a single public ip which also is dynamic. Banning that ip would ban possibly hundreds of innocent people.

Ip bans do not work because they change.

You ppl should put some energy into understanding the trustfactor system, instead of wasting your energy on endless repeating these useless not working and never going to work bs solutions.

Trustfactor works

That's what Reddit did to my gf.

Reddit literally banned my static IP bc my gf had multiple accounts. Now anybody that signs into Reddit on my network gets perma banned. I have to tell people not to use Reddit when they come to my house.

You can bypass IP bans easily

All you need to do is open up the registry editor, go to the network folder under currentcontrolset and change the hexadecimal value for the MAC address for the ethernet adapter

Voila. New MAC address, and you will have a new IP address as well

Im 90% sure every time i log on my ip changes dude and u cant lock out pc's spec because you can just change you pc specs like memory channels and its a different set up, they can just use lots of other ways to change pc and ip.

ISPs are moving towards dynamic IPs and even static IPs are usually easy to change. Valve should look towards identifying cheaters in the first place before looking at catching repeats.

because people a LOT smarter than us have thought of this and decided against it because:
1. you can still change IPs
2. you ban a local IP you end up banning everyone that uses the same network.

Well if people in the same network complain about being banned then they should cry to the cheater about it.

Takes less than one minute to renew ip, what is the point? You don’t even have to stand up…

How are they going to find the cheater from the whole country? Nat is also a thing
