Then people would complain about an alleged "rootkit" and they'd still complain about cheaters due to the delayed banning policy that VAC uses.

Remember also that Valve supports Linux for all their first party games which further complicates matters.

totally agree. valve seems to only care about dota and their new garbage overwatch paste, they use all their money they get from CS and other games to invest into trash nobody wants.
just fix it we are sick of waiting for nothing.

Considering how invasive and also vulnerable most kernel level anti-cheats are it's pretty fair to label them as rootkits. They also don't work because those dedicated enough to cheat have methods to load cheats into the kernel level, bypassing the anti-cheat.

not even 1/10th of the cheaterbase would go as far as bypassing a kernel anti-cheat to continue, we all know a kernel anti-cheat would fix the grand majority of cheaters.
I just don't understand how people think every cheater is that capable.

Most cheaters are script kiddies, they simply download and run them. Whether they would go that far depends on if a tool is available, and indeed they are, as shady and sketchy as they may be. It's more of are they willing enough to buy sketchy cheats that behave like and probably are rootkits, install them, and use them.

Even if they can be detected and banned, Valve does that annoying thing where the bans are delayed, so they can still keep cheating until they are banned in the next wave. I'm doubtful they're going to start banning immediately since that gives cheat developers the edge to test and probe the systems easily.

Journey is a pretty good one, technically one can cheat in that game but the gains are minimal, actually one might even say it's one of the few games where cheating degrades your experience to the same degree as it does for the other players in other games, since the main premise is taking your time and working together.

Downside is it's probably not the experience you or people here were looking for when it comes to multiplayer games without the cheating problem, but it is as you said a game that is largely cheater free.

"Better players" lol i am in the top 0.5 % of players in this game, I am at the highest level as a non pro player, if i am complaining, it is because there is nothing done for people like me, I get a high rank then can't get a normal game without one ruining it.

I am playing minecraft right now with my friends, we are playing a modpack called "vault hunters" and it is extremely fun to play and highly addicting, you could check it out for yourself, i'll check journey if this cs situation stays in the same state :D

"Better players" lol i am in the top 0.5 % of players in this game, I am at the highest level as a non pro player, if i am complaining, it is because there is nothing done for people like me, I get a high rank then can't get a normal game without one ruining it.

So, what you're saying is that all the good players in the top ranks aren't good players but are actually just cheaters because you're in the top 0.5% of non pro players and because they've spanked your botty they must be cheating and that it is OK for a 0.5% non pro top player to go and play against lower ranked players because you cannot compete against those in your rank group... Got it!!!

I'm not saying that there are no cheaters out there, I've dealt cheaters more than most people over the years. But you are playing in the highest of ranks and you think that all the players in those higher ranks are cheaters instead of being good players. It is much more plausible that the players are just as good as you or even better.

Not everyone who spanks your botty is a cheating and you must accept that. However, instead you want to live in this bubble that your such a good player that nobody can beat you and if they do they must be a cheater. I seen this constantly for over 12 years when I was admin on over 250 UK CS/CZ servers where people would constantly call for admin because they believed someone was cheating and all it turned out to be for the most part was a decent player.

So, no I am not trolling I just do not believe that all players are cheating in the highest ranks. I mean if all cheaters are in the highest ranks then were are all the good players playing? Oh wait you told me earlier, they're all playing against the lower skilled players grieving them...
