the screen flickers and changes resolution repeatedly when playing cs2

I have the 1080p 144hz monitor but in cs2 I have it configured with the 4:3 format and the resolution other than 1080p, so when starting cs2, the screen started to flicker, changing the resolution repeatedly without stopping, I got scared and closed it again the game.

I don't want to play like that with 1080p, it's just that it's slow for me and with 4:3 it looks more fluid, so I need to make this broken game not flicker the screen

the resolution within cs2 is 1280x1024

try it again, it works completely fine for me. I had the same issue 1 or 2 times, but after restarting it always got fixed. And don't get scared your computer won't take any damage from a flickering monitor lol.

Check to see if they are using a Animated desktop background, Lively Wallpaper, Wallpaper engine, stuff like that. disabling mine stopped the flickering!
