Yeah playing against real players would be more beneficial of course but im not sure how much cheaters there are in deathmatch especially when being placed in lobbies with a lot of low trustfactor players. Any experiences? I dont play DM really so I have no idea.
Good to know that im not the only one. We have lately enjoyed Vertigo a lot in the absence of Train, hence the attempt to play with bots. Lets just hope...

On Practice, Casual, Vertigo:
Kicked all bots.
Successfully input the three suggested console commands.
Added bots back. Bots wouldn't engage, so I also used the mp_restart... console command to restart the map. Still no bot engagement.
Any other suggestions?
Basically Valve didn't implement bots properly and it looks like the vast majority of players only care about being competitive on a small handful of maps in multiplayer so they never complained about the bots. The small demand for them basically means that Valve simply doesn't care about fixing them.
That's why they removed the difficulty settings from the menu. The settings don't do anything because the bots are broken. Valve decided that it's easier to remove the settings rather than actually fixing the bots so that the settings work.
Don't expect the bots to ever get fixed. The lack of demand basically means no one will be working on them at Valve. CS:GO was the last Counter Strike with "functioning" bots.
Personally, I don't believe that this is the case. Sure, bots are not at the top of the list when it comes to fixes and updates, but as time progresses, an update might come along. Valve is racing to gain new players from other competitive games on the market and bots are a key part for any new player to join the CS2 bandwagon.
Deathmatch is an absolute mess and casual/competitive modes are not beginner friendly. I have seen this firsthand when playing with my GF. If she were to play on her own, the game ends in a vote kick in less than 10 minutes. People are toxic as h*ll no matter the gamemode. Not to mention the instant headshot aimbotters and spinbotters you see in DM.
After every map load, just make sure you load a script along these lines:
bot_kick
bot_difficulty 5
custom_bot_difficulty 5
sv_auto_adjust_bot_difficulty false
bot_chatter radio
bot_all_weapons 1
bot_defer_to_human_goals 0 // make bots actually help you
bot_defer_to_human_items 0 // make bots actually help you
bot_join_after_player 1
bot_quota 10
bot_quota_mode "fill"
mp_defuser_allocation 2 (or 0 or 1, depending on your prefs. Bots dont seem to buy kits)
sv_bot_buy_decoy_weight 0 // hardly anyone uses them online
sv_bot_buy_flash_weight 0 // bots suck at utils and will only blind own guys
