both 12100 and 12400 are low end and actually not that suited for gaming.
12 -> generation
xxx -> tells you what kind of CPU it is (the SKU) -> the higher the better
And read this.
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/gaming/resources/gaming-processor-names.html
i already have 12400 and it's okay for most tasks and Mt and games ( even opening 2 games at the same time ) but i have fps drops in cs2 that's why i want to know is 12100 better for cs2 due to higher base frequency or not ..
that's all .
i know it is alot worse overall
but the base fq is higher than 12400 so i'd say maybe due to this 12100 will be better in csgo ?
yep but it's too late i cant upgrade my pc due to bad economy . thanks for your suggest .
intel CPUs have had pretty "low" base frequency for about 10+ years. My old i5 3570K was 3.4ghz and my 13th gen i7 13700K is 3.4ghz but instead of boosting up only to 3.8ghz it boosts up to 5.3ghz.
TL;DR It's about cache, instructions, architecture and boost frequency. Base frequency is irrelevant when running games like CS2.
yeah when i'd check task manager my cpu running 4.4mhz
amd seems better for gaming .. intel is better for workstation and MT .. and amd cpu prices wasn't greatin my region so that's why i'd pick intel .
But if you ask CPU alone, then it's said the I5 12400 is SLIGHTLY better

Not sure if it's worth the money gap though
And no, I don't advice to rely on intel's iGPU. Save the money and buy F variant instead, and save the budget to upgrade your GPU later.
F:

my gpu is 3060 12gb
and it's more than enough for cs2,but i have fps drops below 144 ..
that's why i ask 12100 is better or not here and it seems games use boost fq so 2.5ghz base fq should not be problem here and i've tried every method for fix 1% lows nothing has changed
so maybe it will be fix in next updates .
the 12400 is great for games if you're on a budget.
Before I bought the system, I did a lot of research last year and watched all the videos.. so I know that 12400 processors are very good.. because today's budget processors are not like the old ones, even 12100 It also has a great performance compared to its previous generation.. It is strange that a series says 12400 because it is entry level, so you should expect entry level from it.. but I believe that it is much more than needed for a game like CS2... it's a problem with the game, which might get better over time.
