How to play old CS games ranked?

If you mean CS 1.6 and CS:S then most likely only through some 3rd party services (if it still exists for older games, I am not sure). Old CS games never had official servers and ranked modes.

I have no idea, since I never used 3rd party platforms myself.
You either google it or ask on CS 1.6 \ CS:S forums.

CS:GO is no longer exists officialy, you can't play it official way the same as you can't play CS 1.0 instead of CS 1.6.

In CS 1.6 and Source there are server-based rankings. Most commonly you will be placed on a server leaderboard based on your performance. There is no official ranking or competitive modes in these two games.

As for Global Offensive, multiplayer is disabled for the Legacy version to my knowledge.

CS2 is awful and unfinished

5v5 servers in CS 1.6 and source are mostly dead because its not fun and CSGO community servers dont worth it since Faceit isnt a thing anymore.

So yeah stick to CS2, you dont have much options
