Valve is extremely bad at communicating with the player base.. sadly.
Cheating has been a problem in cs since it existed. myg0t made cheats for cs, I remember that "clan". That's how far back cheats for cs have existed. Since at least 1.5. I can't speak for earlier versions, but I did start with 1.5 and people were cheating. Other people could tell, and everyone just slowly left the server. I left too when I came across these guys. If they had it in their name tag, I automatically left the game. There probably were a lot of trolls using that in their name but not running cheats, but I just tried to avoid cheaters as best as possible.
Right now, I cannot avoid them, without flat out not playing the game. I know how fun the game can be when it's entirely clean and fair play, but I just....the wind goes out of my sails and I am discouraged from playing when I encounter a cheater. It doesn't take me long to leave. I encountered them the other day immediately upon entering the server. I didn't play for long, but I know if I load up the game, I am going to be bombarded with cheaters in every server.
So, yes, I have gone on to other games now. Maybe I should just not be playing cs anymore? I mean, I played it for roughly 24 years, I don't need to keep playing this game until I'm completely old. I mean, it would be a great way to stay sharp mentally, if you were playing against other legit players. With illegitimate play, it just causes depression and severe mental fatigue (if you're trying to best a cheater), and dissatisfaction from the gaming session, leaving a sour taste in your mouth, and feeling more frustrated than when you started the gaming session, looking to blow off some steam.
CS2 is comparable to OW2, re-releasing the same game, graphical upgrades, old content removed, unimportant bug fixes. AAA games releasing or in this case re-releasing half-baked is a noticeable trend.
Don't play CS2, pick up a game like Baldurs gate 3 (A game that's actually worth every cent).
Most likely Valve are cooking a huge ban wave and are just collecting info on them currently, as has happened before. But it’s kind of frustrating playing with cheaters on a daily basis meanwhile.
Most of the legit people will leave the game by that time
