the reason i use such a high dpi well im from the old quake 3 and UT days where 400 dpi would get you killed faster than you could swing your arm to turn.
During 1.6 since it felt similar in twitchiness allowed me to keep my speed throughout the whole of the CS series and why i still use it today.
Most folks use between 800-1200 dpi from my experience few go as high as i do unless they too played quake 3 or UT alot. the trouble with high dpi is learning to control your wrist rather than your arm to be accurate.
Also you can do better flickshots on higher sensitivity.
the geek is real
I just wanted to be faster in quake 3 than the people whom i was playing against, so i raised my DPI higher and higher until i found a comfortable 5200 was best for me especially with the railgun.
In CS-GO im still accurate though i could use a tweak maybe to 4800 to take off the over correction i swear my sensor is doing.
