didn't stop cheaters
what has changed is the absurd amount of people with low trustfactor.
and ranks in cs2 are still all over the place so you end up with people thinking someone is cheated but in reality they are just a really good player climbing up the ranks because the awful placement system put a faceit lvl 10 in 2000k start for losing 1 match.
Even when CS:GO cost money, they still had an massive invasive cheater problem
Sadly that will never happen because cheat developers are significantly more advanced at developing cheats than employees at Valve are at developing a anti cheat for their own game.
They've had 11 years to do it for CS:GO and still haven't managed to do it.
They do not care about premier experience for players, they only care about the competitive scene because cs:go makes a lot of money coming from tournaments.
Pro players are not affected by a horrible experience because they play external servers like faceit or so and already are at the top of the food chain so they'll likely never encounter cheaters at the 2500-3000+ elo mark on faceit.
And whenever they do play Premier they are rarely met with cheaters due to the fact almost every pro player or ex pro player streamer are at 24.000+ elo in premier and most cheaters are at the mediogres levels 4000-18.000 ish
Gaming wasnt as mainstream, and hacking was not very popular in the states where it originated. Even though our leaders are crooked as they come, the people themselves still believe in integrity and honor. Or used to anyway, lots of people in appalachia still do. But things have changed alot in the last 30 years.
Honor and integrity has been lost, Nowadays cheater streams live and make tutorial about free cheats.. tier list etc. and valve do nothing about it.
