There it should tell you how much storage the game is taking up, mine is 33gbs although I do have a 730mb map installed so a normal installation should be around 30-32gbs.
Keep in mind downloading content and patching content is totally different.
also all those gigabytes are not "piling up", don't worry, your disk usage is not increasing, because:
say there is an update to dust2
dust2 occupies 4gb disk space on your drive
downloading dust2 takes 4gb of data
when the download is complete, dust2 that's already on your drive (old) gets deleted, freeing up 4gb on your computer
then the downloaded new dust2 gets placed there
so don't worry about your disk usage
but if your connection is metered — well, I'm sorry =( the game is being actively worked on, it's better than a buggy easy to abuse mess, right?
