Unplayable on an AMD Radeon RX 5500M
I can't even get 60 frames at 720p with all settings set to low. I figured that with a card released in 2019 I'd be able to get at least a playable experience on the lowest settings. My frame rate regularly dips to 30 fps when there are more than 3 players on screen, and it greatly affects my playing. I was really enjoying CS:GO too, but I guess there's nothing I can do but buy a better card, that is if I can even find one that will fit my motherboard. This sucks

Yeah I just thought a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ card from 2019 would be enough but I guess not

That's a very low-end GPU + It's laptop.
RX 580 8GB (underclocked) is getting 70-130 FPS at 1080p max settings (2017 GPU)

Ubuntu 22.04 LTS with 6.2.0-1017-lowlatency

It can't be that bad if CS:GO ran fine and I also play some modern AAA games like Elden Ring and Forza on it. Also it's not a laptop, it's a prebuilt HP gaming PC

Performance in CSGO != performance in CS2 as you learned yourself.

hmm sounds okay... do you use the flatpakversion (or snap) ? The native version may improve it a bit... but yea the only thing you can do is to switch some settings like -vulkan or -disable_d3d9ex or -windowed

CS is CPU dependent game and always been.
mod Nov 29, 2023 @ 1:54pm
If you are in low budget, you can make a cheap CS2 friendly system with SH parts ,

Example:

Ryzen™ 5 5600, 4.4GHz, 35MB, socket AM4
Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 16GB (2x8GB) 3600MHz CL18 1.35V XMP 2.0 Black
MSI B450 GAMING PLUS MAX
Seasonic G12 GC Series, 80 PLUS® Gold, 650W
GeForce RTX 2070 (any RTX 2070 would do the job, if u are lower budget than that, you can even play with GTX 1060 6GB or GTX 1070 wich can be found cheaper than the 2070s)

With something like that u will never have any fps problems in CS2 (or any other fps game), CPU is good enough

I would save a bit and go for 3000 series instead of 2000 series, but this is a solid build nonetheless.
MAJOR UPDATE

This is going to sound crazy, but setting the resolution up to 4K (my monitors native resolution) greatly improved my performance. I'm on lowest settings at 4K resolution and I'm posting this right now from a Dust2 match. That is so weird, but I've seen this before with other games where they glitch out if you use anything other than your native resolution. Just goes to show how little I know. So if you're reading this with a similar problem try turning your resolution up. Thanks everyone
