CS2 getting 30 FPS after update with a 4090.
Quick question,

is it possible that the recent update broke the game? I have usually been getting 200 fps+ but when I installed the update this morning and started the game, my rig is struggling to get above 30-40 fps on overpass for example. What?

I updated my drivers, didn't change anything. I disabled full screen optimisations, didn't change anything. I did the steam repair ♥♥♥♥, didn't do anything. I went into the BIOS and turned on XMP and checked the DRAM speeds etc. etc., everything correct and changing anything there also didn't change anything in game.

My GPU is running at idle clock in game, 50 Celsius for temperature, same temperature with my CPU. (Specs for everything below). Using NVIDIA I am able to see only 13% CPU and GPU utilisation, which is way lower than before as well.

SPECS:
- GPU: RTX 4090
- CPU: i9 10980 XE
- RAM: 128GB Dominator Platinum at 2133 mHz / OC to 3000 mHz
- SSD: NVME SSD

Any help is appreciated.

Trust me I am just as amazed as you are. Confirmed by console command to draw fps and Nvidia ALT+R overlay thing.

fix your pc, dont use default settings and learn to customize.
disable malware
disable windows updates
disable all spy-related windows "features"
install basic firewall control that blocks internet access to non relevant programs (like some windows telemetry and other garbage that just sucks your bandwidth and resources)
dont use any "optimization" tools or profiles, my friend once accidentally used nvidia game optimization and it got his gta 5 got stuck on like 30-40fps aswell.

learn to change things manually and dont rely on any automation tools or features, this is where you get those issues from. i'm PC expert and from experience i can tell you that 90% of PC issues come from the fact that people use default settings, automatic updates and automatic optimization and other rubbish like that.

that said, i have GTX 1080 and play in 1440p @ 60fps, no stuttering, no lag. GPU usage is only 25-30% while playing, about 50% in menus (no idea why menus are broken).

I have been building PCs for the past 10 years so I reckon I know what I am doing, thank you though. I never relied on any tool or automation, don't know where you had that from. My PC is clean from malware, everything in relation to bloatware is disabled ++. I was getting 200+ fps before the update, afterwards it just dipped below 30 without even changing anything. Thats the whole point, it does not make any sense.

I tested other games like BF2042 maxed out, which also still gets me 200+ fps on 21:9 WQHD.

If it's stable 30 fps, then something software sided is probably capping your framerate. Check Nvidia control panel, check fps_max from CS2 console etc.
check your windows power profile, i've had this issue multiple times over the last 10 years and EVERY time it was windows setting my power profile to power saver

some games override some of the power saving features, in the past the games that i would have issues with were minecraft and cs:s/cs:go, but playing bf3/bf4 my performance was barely hit to the point that i didnt even notice

also one thing im dealing with is that my gpu will randomly run idle clocks by default and i had to go into evga x1 to force it to the profile i have setup - just a tiny undervolt

i wouldnt say its ram related because when i had a ram issue 2042 would only run at around 40-50fps instead of the 150+ i do now that i RMA'd my cpu which was causing my ram issues

also just go around playing literally any video game you can think of, run all sorts of benchmarks from cinebench, blender, vray, and PugetBench, all while running something like hwinfo64 to check speeds, usage, and powerdraw/temps and possibly logging them
just to try and confirm its just cs or its actually something with your system, software or hardware

Nothing capping it, it fluctuates between 30-50fps

Power profile is on high performance as it was before. Ill run some benchmarks etc.

PC Expert hahaha okay buddy.

There is no reason at all to disable malware protection or other Windows releated Software like Updates or Firewall. The bandwidth of that Programms are so small that it does not make any difference at all. You just typing nonsense. But y keep calling yourself a "PC Expert" what ever that is 🤡

I just ran benchmarks on cinebench aswell and it seems like my hardware is completely fine. What are your specs?

Why we have to change so many settings to get high fps..should not be in a good, developed game...
And why i have more fps than many of others here, they have a high end pc compare with mine....?

Because in 2023 getting a working game is no longer a given.
