Very bad performance on Linux
CS2 performance has been really bad recently. I played CS2 on launch in Linux, got 200-250fps. I then switched to Windows for a bit, same fps. Now I switched back to Arch Linux and I suddenly only get 50-60 fps on all maps, even in the menu? Tried this on arch and debian with kde and gnome, same results across the board. What could be the issue?
I have a Xeon E5-2684v4 CPU, AMD RX 5700XT GPU and 32GB RAM. I dont use amdvlk drivers, i use the radeon-vulkan mesa drivers

EDIT: I can't mark my own replies as an answer, so feel free to look up my last few replies in this thread.

Bump.

Can't help as I've got a similar issue regarding low fps in the 40s to 90s on all maps.
1440p, lowest settings, except high shaders. I'm also launching with Gamemode.

Running EndeavourOS on an i5 6600k, Nvidia GTX 1070 (X11, proprietary drivers 5.45.29.06), 16GB RAM.

If they are on older hardware they cant use windows 11 because it requires a TPM, so your only gonna get away with that excuse for a little while longer. Even then windows 10 is pretty resource hungry and older hardware will still struggle to run it a bit. I installed vista the other day for the gigglez. And man, quick and simple setup. Some flashy animations. No advertiser ids. So fast. It was such a pleasant experience compared to windows 10/11.

Things just keep getting ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and why? Money.

Anyway, are we really expected to throw these old devices in the trash? I dont expect everyone to be like me, but most geeks are. We like to save our devices and use them as long as possible. And then save them period. I kinda miss physical games in this regard, because with digital, there is nothing to save. I also kick myself for not saving my original pc's from the 90's. Ive really had a bad urge to just play a older system with a floppy and live the nostalgia. I guess this is a old person thing too. Why rich people pay so much money for stupid things that remind them of their childhood like toys and what not.

Alot of people will be on linux once windows 10 is out of service in a few years.

I dont use Linux because my hardware is too old, sure my motherboard does not have a TMP 2.0 chip for Windows 11, but that can easily be circumvented.
I use Linux because it is easier to use (for me at least), potentially safer and it doesnt sell all your user data like Microsoft does. I have used Win 10 and 11 on this machine in the past, had no performance issues whatsoever. I can run Cyberpunk 2077 on Ultra with 60-70fps in 1080p, but I get 80 fps in cs2 on low, that is purely an engine malfunction
Im planning on getting newer hardware anyways, Im just waiting until the new APUs from AMD come out, so I dont have to use a dGPU anymore for immensely better energy efficiency (energy prices are 30 cents per kw/h where i live). I just wondered, because this bad performance on my Linux machine would also mean that the performance on the Steam deck is horrible and I cant imagine valve not caring about that?

Are you perhaps using proton accidentally?
Also maybe check protondb (even if you're on Native), to see if someone else got the issue, and perhaps a fix for it.

No, I am not. Funnily enough, I get way more FPS when using Proton (~200), but I can't play online because the game files are unable to be verified by VAC

This is the same on every platform. I originally was running every map with no less than 90-110 in heavy action. about 250+ on menu screens and while spectating teammates FPS stayed around 140+(this, to me, is really telling of how this database is configured).
Lately; the FPS is around 80-100 staring at walls with zero assests in view. It' even tanks to like 35-40 which is complete nonsense. I noticed that all these Steam games FPS have gotten really bad since they released that handheld.
I just installed Windows on that PC again to test it, now I get 3x the fps. I don't know what they did to this game, because Vulkan games normally run faster on linux (I use normal directx on windows, the vulkan performance on windows is equally as bad)
stop using a dead operating system ffs. NO one in right mind should use linux crap

Linux is used in a large percentage in the IT world, even Microsoft uses Linux on their servers. So how is it dead? It has only been gaining users lately because of Microsoft being how they are. Also why so aggressive, I just asked a simple question.

Linux is not for gaming, are you high boy? switch back to windows 10 to play all steam games. Do your work on Linux only.
