CS2 suddenly very slow when alt-tabbing in full screen.
Not the game itself, but the time between tabbing. The screen goes black, then a light-black, then black again, and then finally opens desktop or CS2. also audio entirely cuts out and things are silent.

Things were reasonably responsive but now they're not and I truly don't know why. I've adjusted sound settings in game, restarted my PC, and checked drivers. It's kind of annoying.

Have you tried reinstalling? It seemed to work for me.

same why is this an issue?? i cant alt tab quickly anymore, i have to hold it to make sure the window im tabbing into actually opens, otherwise it just gets stuck back onto cs2, but without actually being on cs2,(as in the mouse moves around screen but the screen showing would be cs2 however audio is gone until i click which brings cs2 as the main one again if that makes sense) its honestly annoying.

i also think it has to do with a resolution issue, with csgo, if i had fullscreen set, when i tabbed out, it wouldnt keep the window in the back or foreground, but now, when i do tab into somthing like discord, i can visibly still see cs2 open behind it and not minimized or hidden.

Being in fullscreen windowed has helped minimise the issue but yeah fs is the main problem. Sometimes it launches into 480p and I have to restart the game. Sucks...

Change from Fullscreen Exclusive to Fullscreen Windowed. Just make sure that in your graphic card settings it correctly applies the highest hz possible to both Fullscreen + Windowed Mode otherwise you'll be stuck at 60 hz.

There is actually a bug with this where the game will indefinitely hang, this happens if you alt tab at the wrong time when the game is launching.

I dont get this with CS but I have been getting it with RE4R and the rest of the RE series only with CS if its loading into a server like the guy above mentions

Fresh install of windows 10, plus I moved my game files from a separate drive to the main drive with windows on. Reinstalling the game fixed things for me but I believe my case is unique.

for those of you on stretched res and alt tabbing takes 3 seconds and your screen goes black, go to nvidia control panel, adjust desktop size and position, and perform scaling set it to GPU. the issue is that your monitor is trying to set scaling back to native and changing this will completely fix the issue

Did not fix it for me. I am moving from 1920 at 16:9 on my desktop to 1280 at 4:3 and it keeps failing. It needs an irregular number of alt-tabs and patience to "maybe" get it to work again.

Step1. nvidia control panel > change resolution > choose pc 1920x1080 (using ultra hd, hd or whatsover defi take long time to adjust the screen after alt tab)
Step2. adjust desktop size and position > scaling fullscreen > perform on gpu > overide the scaling mode > set the res (mine is 1280x960)
Hope this help
