How much FPS Do you think I'll get?
Hello!
I want to buy a Laptop with these specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 5700U
16GB RAM DDR4-3200Mhz
AMD Radeon Vega 8 (Intergrated Graphics Card)

I saw a similar laptop with a i5-1135g7 and an iris xe graphics card.
it got around 90fps in 720p low settings. do you think that with the laptop i want to buy ill get similar results?

Thanks in advance for your responses.:steammocking::steamthumbsup:

Laptops are a waste of money for gaming

Unless you have other uses for a Laptop other than gaming, I would recommend going the Desktop PC Route since it offers much more performance and future improvements down the road.
If you just want a mobile/stationary Gaming Device, a Steam Deck could also work since it allows you to hook up a monitor, keyboard and mouse for a relatively cheaper price.

I agree with you, however I do need it for light programming in school and light gaming (GTA V, overwatch 2, cs2, valorant, etc.

Can you estimate based on what you think how much FPS i'll get?

Thanks :D

I would say you would perhaps get around ~60 FPS on low in CS2
Though it would make a great difference if you have a SSD or HDD, which could affect the loading times and on the run texture loading.

Is there any reason people fear desktops? They are generally cheaper, perform better and can be modified and updated.

Laptop = casual gamer, like cellphone gamer. CS:2 big boy, Maybe candy crush is a better alternative?

It'll have a 512GB SSD
So I think the loading times would be faster.
Anyways, Thank you :D

They're fine but come at a significant premium for, you know, being portable

Depending on your current situation in life, they're great. Desktops are for when you have a stable residence and don't travel much.

Other than that I need to school or when I go to game at a friend's house that doesn't has a console, I simply don't have the space in my house for a Desktop.

The ones you mention don't have a graphics card, it's through the CPU. If you want to game on it you'll want one. Ofcourse it depends what your budget is and if you want to buy new or used. I would at minimum look for a laptop with 15/16 inch 1080p screen, 16 GB ram, recent CPU & dedicated GPU and 500gb SSD.

If the 16GB ram is in dual channel you should get significantly higher fps than if it was single, in which case I believe you should be able to run it on low settings pretty well, surely at least 60 fps, since it's ryzen 7 and not an intel APU it should definitely squeeze better frames, if you don't mind having upscaling as well for the sacrifice of quality you should probably be able to hit 60-100 I imagine.

This. You could get a very decent gaming pc for that price which runs cs2 at 200 fps easily.

Then buy a used old laptop for like 50 bucks and with the rest of the money you buy a decent PC.
