CS2 crashing and being stuck on "downloading content 0%" when reopened

Whenever i play CS2 i will get a random crash that forces me to close the game. When i try to reopen the game the steam launcher will not allow me to run the game due to it "downloading content 0%". When the game I was playing in finishes, it allows me back in but i receive a ban. There seems to be no fix to this issues yet and I want the issue to be addressed by Valve.

Same problem, stuck, cant verify. Nothing works untill it kicks me from a match and then i can reinstall a game. Such bizzare thing to happen. I experience regular crashes but can get into game within a minute, and here it literarly watied for 10 minutes for me to get kicked, i get cooldown, and then it decides to let me install and verify the game. This is so disgusting needs to be fixed asap

turn off "Enable Shader Pre-caching" and then clear download cache.
to find it go to steam where there is steam logo that is located at top left, then go to settings, after that go to Downloads and then you will find the options there.

Happened to me today.

Gamecrash is not such a problem if I can reconnect.

The problem is when my game crashes in the midst of Premier Match and I can not reconnect, because of not being able to verify the files (stuck on 0%). After 20 minutes, when I successfully verify the files I can not reconnect.

This results into 1k elo loss and my team is suffering. I lost like 3k elo in this way and I have high end PC with 300+ fps on max settings. This is very frustrating and it is almost 6 Months from the game release.

It is not happening every day, but it happens occasionally what was unimaginable in CSGO back then. Very sad.

I know Valve has much to do, but this 1k elo loss because of technical DC is just a slap into the face of earnest and honest cs players, like myself who is in the series since 2003.

Punishment of 1k elo for those who abandon the game and team is fitting and they deserve it, but not for those who are getting technical DC - for e.x. corrupted files which can not be validated and player can not connect.

Same problem here, I disabled shader pre caching + clear download cache but it ONLY starts the game after im already kicked from the match. Valve fix this already

Thing that helped me: install in beta csgo_legacy, then choose no beta.

I solved this problem this way, I changed the account, if you have a reserve one, go to it and select CS 2 from the library, then update it and return to your account from which you want to play
If you don't have a reserve account, just create one and add it for quick access, just don't forget to add CS 2 to the library.

Still having this issue 2024.
Valve kicks me from game to update a game im in mid match where nobody else is needing this update.
Valves client refuses to download an update
Valve refuses to let me rejoin a game i had 0 intentions of leaving
Valve then punishes me for reasons that were strictly related to THEIR client.

I got oh so lucky well after my loss of elo and current ban and had clearing the download cache let me relaunch the game, finally. Good luck.
