CS 2 dedicated host remote console not working

I have a dedicated CS2 server on linux.
on my
<installation path>/game/csgo/cfg/server.cfg
I added a line that says
rcon_password <my password>
and I run my dedicated server using a command like
<installation path>/game/bin/linuxsteamrt64/cs2 -dedicated -usercon +map de_dust2
then on the client side I bring up the console and type
rcon_password <my password>

however, whenever I try to run a command like
rcon changelevel de_inferno
nothing happens on the client, and on the server (I keep the server ssh window open side by side) I get a message saying
autokick is disabled for <my steam username>.

what is the issue here?

I have the same problem as you...looking through the cs2 reddit it seems that we are all the same and it is a cs2 bug

Same problem here. I have been scratching my head for about 8 hours with this now. Sometimes I actually get it working, but I cannot grasp what I have actually done to get there. I've suspected that it's about password lengths but It's never consistent. I'll be sure to tell you if I get it working consistently after restart.

I'm 100% sure that I actually got it working when connected, because i used bind both to rethrow grenades and to speedup time when connected.

The workaround right now is:

1. Connect to the server
2. Disconnect from the server
3. send command, for instance "rcon changelevel de_overpass"
4. Reconnect to the server

For some unknown reason the rcon commands only seem to work if you are disconnected form the server.

@MarW1N [SWE] That's weird as hell! I just checked and you're right. rcon works if you're not connected to the server. did anybody find any updates to this?

is there a github repo for this so that we can report this issue on the source code? maybe somebody will read it there. apparently nobody from developers reads this forum!

Yeah still no fix for it. it's a shame. it seriously impacted my pals' ability to join and enjoy CS since the upgrade.

I found a workaround: If you send rcon command while you are connecting somehow it goes through and works even after fully connecting until the server changes level. If you send rcon commands while the server changes levels you keep/get rcon works in tthe nextt map also..

yes, so funny; If u rcon_password "urpassword" and then like rcon changelevel de_train
, nothing happens but if u disconnect, the moment u disconnet the command gets recongnised from the server . Idk so, if no Player on the server than its works...... wow; Funny tho if i use like an RCON Programm it can input commands even if players are on the server..... dont know how..
