lol no. Just use fps max 0 as usual.
the game will run just fine. I have a solid 120 fps on all maps (lowest preset). Ryzen 5700 k, Nvidia rtx 3060 (notebook version, so equal to 2060/80)(dont ask, i dont know how they still work together), so if you are still not sure of the productivity of your PC cap it to monitors hz .

is no point fps max unless u want ur pc to give the most when is not needed. Ex me: with 13900ks and 4090 getting 900 fps if i want, but what is the point?

The only real reason to cap your fps is if you experience major screen tearing, but I don't think you will with those specs. fps_max 0 should be fine.

165 Hz is fine. The only benefit you would get running an FPS higher than that is the slim chance that the frame that it chooses to render at the refresh rate happens to show a tiny piece of an enemy and you are an android with the ability to process and react to that information near instantaneously.

You much active 165Hz in Nvidia GSYNC in control panel and turn off vsync and limited fps in game setting. I use 165Hz overclock mode, and in game 250fps running smooth without screen stutter.

Keep in mind you need more than 165 fps to utilize your 165 hz monitor. If your rig just puts out 165 fps than a 120 hz monitor would be totally fine

You don't have to do anything. Even when fps is higher than your monitor refresh rate it won't hurt you.
However i think it is the best to limit FPS manually to x1.5- X2 of you refresh rate to make highs more stable and spare some power.

Wut? Seriously, what are you on?

Don't do fps_max 0. This will just stress your 4080 and CPU for nothing to gain. I think you'll hit easily solid 400 fps in every situation in every map @ every game mode. So if I were you, I would limit fps to 400 or even lower like 330 which is 2x your refresh rate as someone already suggested.
