overclock this gpu so at least the score is higher but , with 2 gb vram freezing is normal.
you probably need to lower texture quality more by using NVIDIA profile inspector (on github) and ensure everything runs max performance.
SDD is better , its 50 times faster on average.
HDD is bad but super cheap.
if you running it from HDD, run check disk followed by defrag.
if SSD, run check disk, could be bad sectors.
verify game files via steam.
however lot of players having crashes and freezes, including me. cs2 used to just close randomly, but after an update about 2 weeks ago, this issue disappeared, but now it's causing BSOD randomly. every 3-4 days it gives BSOD while playing.
most likely not issue with your PC, but it won't hurt to check it anyways.
... why do people talk such rubbish? do you even know what VRAM is and how it works? having less VRAM doesn't make games freeze or crash, it might cause stuttering and increased loading times tho.
as a PC expert / technician, i actually know how computers work and how to analyze things.
i run cs2 in 1440p with most things on high and my VRAM usage is only 2.8gb, dropping it to 1080p with lowered options, would easily drop it below 2gb and that's not even the point, because windows is designed in a way that it uses more RAM and VRAM if there's more available.
for example if you have 8gb RAM, then windows uses maybe like 3gb with your default stuff running, but if you upgrade to 16gb RAM, then with exact same programs open, windows would be using like 6gb RAM.
same goes for VRAM, the more you have, the more is being used.
GTX 960 is enough to run cs2 in 1080p.
even if VRAM would be issue, it still would NOT crash or freeze the game .. this is not how computers work ... like seriously people, please learn what computer is and how it works.
lack of RAM or VRAM doesn't make computer freeze or crash, it just makes it SLOW.
for example i have 4gb RAM on my old laptop, when running kodi, chrome and couple other programs, it uses up all RAM and then things get really slow, opening new tab in chrome takes like 2-3 minutes, but it doesn't crash or freeze.
it's just absurd to say that lack of VRAM / RAM is cause for freezing or crashes, because it isn't. when PC lacks any resource, things just get slow ... sometimes VERY slow, but it won't freeze or crash ...
ALSO he says "RANDOM FREEZE" .. if it was due lack of VRAM, why would it be random? if there's not enough VRAM to load textures, then it would happen every time when loading map/s. it's common sense really.
but once AGAIN, this is not how VRAM works. if there's not enough VRAM, then game just unloads textures that are not currently needed, which just increases read/write from/to storage device (ssd/hdd).
