I always wondered... what's the deal with the Auto-snipers?
During my time in Competitive matchmaking, I noticed that most players seem to shun the Auto-snipers (the G3SG1 and SCAR-20). When they are really good guns and you can get plenty of kills with it. Its only slightly more expensive then the AWP and does decent damage with a higher rate of fire then the AWP. So why does CS:GO competitive seem to think of the Auto-snipers as "evil." I've been team killed multiple times for buying the Auto-snipers, and I end up losing 5000 good dollars in a few short seconds. If anyone could answer this I would be glad to hear it.

Sounds like you play with Silvers? There is no answer for it. They are toxic and stupid as ♥♥♥♥.

The majority of the csgo community thinks Autos are overpowered because they don't know their weakness - i.e. they don't know how to counter them. They're arguably weaker than an awp IMO, it takes 2 body shots to down someone. A well placed AK tap or competent AWP will beat an Auto.

Being team killed for buying an auto is subjective; you could easily break your own team's economy by doing so, or become a detriment to the team if there's already a scoped weapon. If you camp super hard and bait your team with it, I can understand them killing you if your response is "no its ur fault u died look how many kills i have". That point's subjective =\

It is considered taboo to use the Auto Sniper rifles due to the fact that it is too easy to use. For the awp you really need to use your skills to make sure your shot hits your enemy whereas for the Auto Sniper rifles you can just camp at a spot and spam till you actually kill the enemy. And for 20 bullets per magazine it's frankly a bit overpowered. The awp also has an extremely long reload animation after you shoot a bullet. Within that time people can easily headshot you with an AK or tapfire you with the USP-S. Basically, you are literally putting your skill on the line with the AWP, which is why the AWP is the Pro's choice.

Its not that I'm bad with the Auto, its just that as soon as I buy one, even if nobody else has a sniper of any kind, they see I have an auto and are tempted to teamkill me. And if I do get a kill with it, I get cussed out in chat by the other team. I just think it strange that people will turn on their teammates for buying a certain gun.
Strange responses.
People will teamkill you for buying an auto because it's super situational and kind of weak. For a lower price you can get an awp which kills far quicker and is more accurate, that's pretty much all it is, the team is mad that you wasted your money on a weak weapon.

At higher ranks people tend to TK for this stuff less though.

Its damage may be lower, but it makes up for it with a much higher rate of fire. Also, the Negev is a very expensive and situational weapon as well, but I don't see people getting TK'd for using a Negev.

People rage out for their team buying the M249 and Negev too, neither are particularly good, the Neg has some utility because of it's incredibly short TTK at short-mid range, but it's outweighed massively by it's price and standing inaccuracy at range.

And no, the auto's firerate does not make up for it's low damage, the firerate introduces inaccuracy, if you're hitting the first shot, you'd do better with the AWP, it doesn't allow room for someone to peek, take a shot to the body and nope out of there.

Only Silvers do. If you play with normal people nobody will kill you because of you play the weapon you like to play. If you buy it in a eco round yeah would get something to hear. :D
But only silver noobs would TA or TK for any reason. A normal CS player would just say something noobs attack.

The Auto's recoil is relatively low, and considering you don't have to scope out after every shot, its a very accurate weapon. Hence why it is a sniper at all. As long as you made rate your fire rate and place your shots well, the Auto will perform admirably.

The auto snipers are only good when you need to stop a team rush, because that's the only time it'll outclass an AWP in stopping potential. You do have to hit headshots, or risk getting tapped yourself. All in all, it's rarely worth the $250 increase over an AWP. An AWP will one-shot someone, decreasing the chance they can get you first.

While I do love the AWP, I'm unfortunately not very accurate with it. And if you miss your first shot, a weapon like the AWP will severely punish you for it. Let's face it, not everyone can be like KennyS.

The sheer fact alone though is inconclusive from an outside perspective. Did they have reason to believe you aren't proficient in scoped weapons? Are rush strats effective against the team you're playing? Are you using the weapon ineffectively? Could the team afford losing and giving an Auto to the enemy? Do the enemy know how to use smokes/flashes (i.e. hardcountering a scope)?

There are tons of factors above, and those that don't immediately come to mind, that we don't know. I've bought and had teammates buy tons of Autos, the only complaining I've seen received from it is from our enemies.

I'm guessing none of you watch pro's play because they do use the auto at times, it's a gun in the game, if you're mad about it, you must be bad at the game.

if you want proof search it up on the interwebz

I do watch pro games btw and while the Auto may be used from time to time, I don't see it very often. I'm not mad about it, I'm simply curious as to why it isn't used more often.
