CS2 ELO loss is insane

I'm not even on a loss streak, and yet Istill lose +500 elo despite playing decently well- and it's simply because Iget placed against 1500s?? Or because I queue with a friend who's a little below me? Why do I get punished despite playing well, and winning games in a row? One loss smashes me right back into 3500, whereas I need five games just to get back out. It's so punishing for NO reason.

Ehmm, isnt the hard cap 4000 elo? Didnt knew you could get below that again.

4k is when you start losing again, you cant lose any below it but the second you go above you can lose a catastrophic amount.

Yeah this ♥♥♥♥ keeps happening to me and my friends. We clamber up from below 4k then get smashed back down after a single loss. It doesn't help that the skill of players at 4k is incredibly inconsistent right now. The worst part is that the rating loss is determined at match start, so even if we lose 16-14 we get punished.
I think total rounds should 100% affect the rating, since a close game should indicate similar skill levels.

Same here. It’s the fifth time when I reach 4k elo and derank to 3500. I am always top fragger in my lobies with a frag range of 20-35 frags per game but always when I had 4k ELO, boom, I’m playing with some random dudes with concrete in their hands. I think that u should lose elo based on your personal performance, it would be better tbh.

It doesnt make sense since it happens to me too but when i ask other players in my team they say they lose only 200-250
