CS2 server and "Your client is out of date"
I've followed the official steamcmd guide and setup a local CS2 server. It seems to be running fine, but when clients connect(LAN) we get a "Your client is out of date" error:
I noticed these error messages on the server side:

Sending RejectConnection to 10.18.80.121:56873: 141: NETWORK_DISCONNECT_REJECT_OLDPROTOCOL

End-to-end connection: closed by remote host, reason code 1000. (CloseSocket)

anyone got some advice?
Thanks :)

Same problem, we all need help
I checked versions of client and server after updates:
`1.39.6.4/13964 9842` on server and
`1.39.6.5/13965 9842` on client

I figured it out. It turns out SteamCMD reset the installation directory after exiting and during the update downloaded the server to a different directory. And I launched the original one, which was not updated. Everything works now

This was 100% the problem!! Thank you! Now where does it install by default so I can delete that one? LOL

What did you do to check the version of the game ? I can't find any command for that

On both client and server side i used command `status`. One of return lines starts with `version`

How did you solve it ? How did you find the bad installation path ?

SteamCMD have default installation path, folder steamapps/common inside SteamCMD.

Yeah so I found the steamapps/common thing.
~/steam/steamapps/common$ ls
returns 'Counter-Strike Global Offensive'.
What do I do with that now? Is THAT the right path ... for what? Where do I have to change the path so this gets fixed?

I just deleted my first copy and use from default path. If you anyway want to use your own path i think you used to type `force_install_dir <path>` with your path

Do I just need to delete my config files and they will re install themselves?

Nah, save config and delete server instance or move it to default directory

I managed it "reinstalling" it again.

I started STEAMCMD, than force_install_dir (with the same path I did 1st time) -- after that, just did an app_update 730. This way solved my problem.
someone explain clearly what am i supposed to do with this problem im losing my mind
