apple's refusal to support vulkan nativly.
even with the aid of the game porting tool kit.
you would be running x86 to arm translation
vulkan to metal translation
the M1 GPUs are not built for gaming.
so you would be running translation overhead on top of translation overhead. On top of bad gpu performance.
not a great combination for a game like cs2
my guess is they had a"friendly' email chain with apple over things the past few weeks
apple was stubborn and refused to budge and valve said it was not worth it to even continue on anymore for the 1% of the playerbase that plays on mac still
