Are you old enough to have been alive for the release of RuneScape 3? Other games have changed the number in their title to signify a big update before and the world didn't end.
So suppose you and me made a game together. We both credited for all these years and finally we decided to make a big upgrade, What's give you the right to delete my name from the upgrade if it's the same game ?
Cause it's not.. otherwise Valve would get class action lawsuit from hidden path for removing their name from CS2 who literally developed the whole CSGO for them.
CS2 is a new game. Not an upgrade. Wikipedia clearly says it's the filth instalment. Valve clearly said the next major will be first CS2 major and Paris major was last major which ends an era.
Clearly a new game....
they have not had a hand in csgo's developement since it's release date and even then it was only to do the console port of csgo.
but valve didn't actually update to store page over the years since then before the cs2 release.
I mean cmon it still had screenshots from the 2012 build of csgo there.
also updates can be shipped to a game that make it into another one,
literally every MMO on the planet follows this,
compare WoW classic to WoW retail 2 entirely different games but shared the same store page and reviews until classic became a thing,
Even 2023 csgo and 2012 csgo are 2 VERY diffrent games when you compare the 2 but yet still had the same store page. And if we ever get a CS2 10-15 years from now it will likely keep the store page from CS2,
And it's not like you didnt keep things from csgo
you know
player stats
inventory
collectibles
MM log.
CS2 isnt an entirely new game. Just a very large update/overhaul
So nope my first point was not even wrong,
When Jagex updated RuneScape 2 by rewriting the engine, improving the graphics, changing the default music, adding seasonal leaderboards, new audio technology, a completely redesigned UI... They renamed the game to RuneScape 3.
And the world didn't end. People kept all the items they had obtained in RuneScape 2 in the transition to RuneScape 3. It was an update. Just like there had been thousands of before, and many more after. It was a very big update, so they felt that changing the name of the game was important to signify this. But an update, nonetheless.
cs1,5 to cs1.6
ffxiv to ffxiv a realm reborn
dota 2 to dota 2 reborn
minecraft to minecraft bedrock
fortnite to fortnite battle royale
just to name a few more
Hidden didn't develop merely the console port of CSGO. They made CSGO ( a brand new game ) for console using the left for dead /portal assets . Valve saw the potential of their amazing work and took the opportunity to make it a PC game and go biggar. Which today we are playing now. Which was fully developed by hidden path from the ground and handed to Valve once they released it. They could very well updated it to perfection if they had control but since valve took over they couldn't
All these years valve just updated the base game hidden path made and made money out of it. Just like they did to COUNTER strike 1. Bought the 2 modders Minh lee and Jess cliffe and created the CS franchise.
Valved hated to give credit to hidden path so much that they decided to not even credit themselves after the paranoma update. Before that we could see both valve and hidden path are mentioned in the intro, after the paranoma update it mentions neither.
Valve is like everyone knows it's our game, won't matter if we mention ourselves or not but better make people forget the hidden path name who originally developed it lol
Now since CS2 is out they are back to putting their name in the intro and this time it's ONLY them
and valve literally did nothing but just give hidden path access to their Source engine, Portal and LFD assets. CSGO was fully made by them. Just like Black Mesa or CS1 was made by modders.
Valve has nothing to do with early csgo build.
Should CS2 be marked as "developed by Id Software, Pop Dog and Turtle Rock", then? By your logic, if someone has ever touched a piece of software, they are permanently the author of that software, even if it's been over a decade and every piece of code they wrote has been changed since.
No and that's why CS2 has no Hidden path's name. Prove my point why it's a new game. If it's just an upgrade of CSGO then you have to give credit to original dev. They didn't cause it's new game.
