There's an advantage playing high dpi on low sensitivity. After all, it's like comparing 8MP photo on 1920x1080 and 80MP photo downscaled to 1920x1080. One x 1' or ten x 0.1' would be landing on same spot, but you have more control with 0.1 increments than with 1', pretty much it's how DPI and sensitivity works. Sensitivity is how much you "rotate" per tick, and DPI is how much ticks you get per inch.
However, some mouse actually have unreliable sensors with high DPI. so it's situational to play with high DPI or just regular DPI. But if your mouse support high DPI flawlessly, unless your setting cannot be scaled to the DPI, it's quite a loss to not use the higher DPI. (If you scaled DPI by twofold, then make your sens to half, and so like that.)
Edit: This guy also gets it

I have my DIP set to 1600 anything higher and I will not be aiming at anything but we'll be doing 360 no scopes missing every time also have my sensitivity reset to 1.25 in game! What about you?
Anyway i edited my comment above to explain. Again, ten 0.1 degree vs one 1 degree, which one is better? your call.
If you are getting too fast with higher DPI, you have to tone the sensitivity down. If the sensitivity kept getting reset then it's the game fault. Honestly I'm using cfg so it's just applied in the game.
1600x1.25 is it then, which equivalent to 2000 DPI with 1 sensitivity, and 4000 DPI with 0.5 sensitivity, and 8000 DPI (my DPI) with 0.25 sensitivity.
You can try experimenting with CFGs, it should fix your resetting sensitivity problem.
