An emerging Overwatch Ban bug(With high mouse DPI)
This is a rare but early CS2 bug, I hope CS2Team and Valve will take this case seriously.
After my several days' play, it looks like there is an false overwatch game ban in CS2. If you change the mouse DPI to the max(e.g. 16000 or 25600) and try to play a match(casual or competition), once someone reports you, even if you're not using any cheating software, you'll get a game ban by the VACNet or AI Overwatch. Whereas in csgo I've used high dpi many times with no problems. Here's some information I've gathered recently:

1. I know that many cheaters using [aimware] has been banned recently, and some people might suspect that these bans(I mentioned above) have something to do with the use of cheating software. What I want to say is that I'm happy to see VAC's contribution to the community, but the earliest cases began on May or even earlier, and they all got a [Overwatch ban] not a [VAC ban].

2. As a player mentioned, he sometimes changes the DPI of his logitech g502 mouse, then swipes his mouse quickly in the warming up of a casual game, pretending to be a "cheater" using gyroscope cheat software. Of course he only do this in the warm up, which means he's not playing passively. However after he got a priority status of the CS2, he tried to do this and got a overwatch ban the next day.

3. A player in China encounters the same problem: In a competition match, there was a real cheater on the other side, so everyone was reluctant to continue with the game. Then he swipes his mouse quickly and used a negev at the same time, after he killed a player, he immediately got a game ban with no reason. The linke is here [www.bilibili.com].

4. it is well known that human overwatch is gradually being replaced by VACNet, someone calls it AI Overwatch. Different from VAC, it doesn't scan memory for cheatware or monitor local game files, but rather determines if a player is a cheater based on their overall performance in the game. In my understanding, when someone quickly moves their mouse, it's possible to exceed certain thresholds which VACNet thinks it's an abnormal action. On this basis you get a marker. If you luckily hit and killed a player, or received someone's unfair report, you're highly possible to be regarded as a "real" cheater and receive an Overwatch ban or game ban.

Other cases that I have seen during these days:
1. "Deniz1433"'s comment "On my first time..." on a reddit post: https://www.reddit.com/r/GlobalOffensive/comments/16r18yf/game_ban_bugs_with_window7/
2. A video that tells people some commands of CS:GO, in the comment area you can see many people being overwatch banned because of this: https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV1c4411o7hm/
3. A twitter user who reported this problem at Sep 19, but no one replied: https://twitter.com/li2474940481

There no human that can play at 16000 or 25600 dpi wtf!
If you tune down the sensitivity, you can.

what would be the point of having your dpi that high than having to turn your sensitivity down in game makes no sense!

Idk, I'm not setting it that high, but I have 8000 DPI with 0.10 myself, so theoritically, they could have used 0.05 or 0.02 and they would be fine

Higher DPI = (usually, if the mouse is really working properly) More accurate. Technically, it allow you to pixel snipe more precisely. Though, again, csgo isn't a game where this is made apparent. Higher DPI benefits games with long distance shots where a single pixel could be the difference on making a hit or a miss, for ex Ghost Recon Breakpoint.

There's an advantage playing high dpi on low sensitivity. After all, it's like comparing 8MP photo on 1920x1080 and 80MP photo downscaled to 1920x1080. One x 1' or ten x 0.1' would be landing on same spot, but you have more control with 0.1 increments than with 1', pretty much it's how DPI and sensitivity works. Sensitivity is how much you "rotate" per tick, and DPI is how much ticks you get per inch.

However, some mouse actually have unreliable sensors with high DPI. so it's situational to play with high DPI or just regular DPI. But if your mouse support high DPI flawlessly, unless your setting cannot be scaled to the DPI, it's quite a loss to not use the higher DPI. (If you scaled DPI by twofold, then make your sens to half, and so like that.)

Edit: This guy also gets it

More accurate
You do you but I'm pretty sure more accurate just make you less accurate! at aiming!

I have my DIP set to 1600 anything higher and I will not be aiming at anything but we'll be doing 360 no scopes missing every time also have my sensitivity reset to 1.25 in game! What about you?

I'm not doing 360 no scope lol. But anyway, this is from my experience that having good mouse with good sensors allow you to use high DPI in precise. Some cheap mouse won't cut it, and start being inaccurate if you push it high up, hence why "less accurate at aiming". It varies depends on the mouse, but my mouse just do fine with 8000 DPI at any games.

Anyway i edited my comment above to explain. Again, ten 0.1 degree vs one 1 degree, which one is better? your call.

It was more of a joke like if I go higher DPS than what I have I'll be doing 360s without trying to! My DPI can go higher but I just can't handle the speed pass 1600 and if I go lower it feel to slow for me!

As i said, DPI = how many ticks per inch (in your movement), while sensitivity = how much it rotates per tick

If you are getting too fast with higher DPI, you have to tone the sensitivity down. If the sensitivity kept getting reset then it's the game fault. Honestly I'm using cfg so it's just applied in the game.

1600x1.25 is it then, which equivalent to 2000 DPI with 1 sensitivity, and 4000 DPI with 0.5 sensitivity, and 8000 DPI (my DPI) with 0.25 sensitivity.

You can try experimenting with CFGs, it should fix your resetting sensitivity problem.

On September 15th, due to my mouse DPI being very high, I mimicked a spinning top in the CS 2 deathmatch mode and caused my CS 2 account to be vac-banned. I received the game key for CS 2 on September 1st. I have played CS for nearly 1000 hours and purchased skins through part-time jobs outside of school. CS has become an important part of my life.
same thing happened with me, just waiting for them to either message back or appeal the ban :/
VAC BAN = automatic ban

Overwatch Ban:
1. report from player
2. Overwatch Investigator watch demo
3. Valve has the last word

This is the early overwatch ban. Now VALVE use ai overwatch called VACNet, just use ai model to judge whether a player cheats or not.

I was also banned for the same reason. On September 29th this year, the second day of CS2 launch, I was reported and banned for using high DPI rotation. Nowadays, if you are reported, regardless of whether you cheat or not, the monitoring system will ban you if it detects that your perspective is rotating too quickly. Many players have been mistakenly banned as a result, and to my knowledge, none have been unbanned. My inventory is worth $5000, and most of the items are not mine, but rented. My account is currently banned and I cannot return the items. I may need to pay a substantial penalty or even face imprisonment as a result.
who the ♥♥♥♥ rents skins? Enjoy jail lmao
I think this is why I got banned. I don't cheat but my mouse has software that allows the changing of dpi.
