Mic sensitivity/threshold

My teammates can't hear my voice well, or very quietly when I talk ingame. The speaker icon only shows one/two bars and does not change when speaking. It seems that the threshold is too high. I already tried in the cfg to change the value, however this has no real effect. Anybody have any ideas?
