CS2 in 2023, no IPv6
Launched in 2023... still 0 ipv6 support.

This is laughable and a big fail. They are pushing and doing a great job with SteamDeck/Linux... why not with networking too?

Why would it need IPv6 support? It uses SDR, which routes packets based on Steam ID, not IP address.

Like Ben lubar Sayed and why should we use ipv6? I don't think many games support that anyway it's pretty useless for now anyway and will be pretty useless for a long time more.cant really see any benefits too add this into any game nor cs2.

Here's Valve's Fletcher Dunn explaining why Valve's multiplayer games no longer tell players the IP address of the game server ever:

Not true... in a ipv6 only network the game wont get beyond main menu. And serverbrowser does not work at all.

Maybe true for official /competititve... but what about the Server Browser?

And even if the SDR work. The Valve/steam architecture still uses ipv6 only for downloads... but does not work for anything else, further breaking more things.

It should be built with future in mind. Even though my country's ISPs are lazy af and do not want to implement ipv6 yet it will be a requirement in the future. There simply is not enough ipv4 addresses forever, in fact we have already run out. Just because it's not common yet doesn't mean cs2 shouldn't have it, a game with a bright future ahead.

The packets still have to be sent somehow, and that means via either IPv4 or IPv6. If it's IPv4 a lot of ISP's now use CGNAT, and that inherently introduces latency.
IPv6 is much more efficient. IPv4 should be used as a fallback.
