Why cant we download matches for replay

Probably because Valve is focusing all servers for online play and will eventually bring back demos

as Valve said in recent patch notes "to allow more server capacity", so demos are no longer recorded and you can't use CSTV to watch your friends play for now.

but you mentioned your old demos — yes, demos are not stored on Valve's servers forever, only for about two weeks I think

Where does that come from? Playerbase didnt even peaked with cs2 afaik.

Its only recently i couldnt download replays i was downloading replays at peak playership. Its bs

yes, because they did it when they saw servers running at 6 fps when there were 1500000 players online, like, it did not happen automatically, they did it manually, thus the delay of a few hours after the peak

Because demos can be opened in other sites like leetify and they show you how many players are banned and valve doesn't want you to see that none of them got banned

They didnt care that we can see that for years, i dont think thats the reason. iirc they already added two new server locations since the demos were deactivated, so probably a different reason for that
