Where does CS2 save your settings?
Anyone know the file and location so I can backup my settings like video, audio, and hotkeys. It does not seem to save in the old csgo config.cfg file anymore.

It doesn't save it there anymore. I changed some settings in-game and the config.cfg file there did not update to any of my changes.

a lot of console commands have changed so old cfg files aren't working anymore :\

Yes true. Some of my CSGO settings did not transfer over to CS2 so I had to manually re-do them in the in-game menu settings. It is saving it somewhere tho, but I can't seem to find exactly where.

Really? So, what are the files "cs2_video.txt" and "cs2_video.txt.bak" in this directory for? And I didn't say anything that CS2 uses an old config.cfg file.

I just did a complete uninstall/fresh reinstall of CS just to improve performance and hopefully eliminate any old files from GO.

Looks like I'm also noticing there's no config.cfg anymore after the fresh install. Looks like cs2_video.txt / .bak are where video settings are, while cs2_user_keys.vcfg and cs2_user_convars.vcfg are where our keyboard commands are now.

It's interesting because I mainly did this just to see if any performance issues were due to "migrating" from CSGO as opposed to freshly installing CS2 from scratch. And yeah, it turns out that at the very least there's a different situation with where files are stored and accessed.

I also immediately noticed a boost in both frames and overall smoothness of gameplay immediately after fresh installing, pretty significant too considering how many settings I've tinkered with over the past month or so including during beta. Would highly recommend a full uninstall/reinstall for anyone who migrating from CSGO.

Can you provide complete path where you find the user keys settings ? I do not see any file name that starts with cs2_ in

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\csgo\cfg

My settings keeps getting reset for every game update or randomly after i reboot my PC. I need to save the file somewhere. In the above path i gave all i could see are 'user_keys_default' and other files alike with term 'default' in their names. So anytime i change settings i come out of the game, these files have no changes. I don't know where exactly the settings are saved. I need to take backup copy of those files. Kindly help.
Nvm found the cs2_user_keys files in

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<steamID>\730\local\cfg

Perhaps the config will soon be saved in the cloud, so the issue will be gone.
