So, no more playing on HDD?
After this update I am getting extreme levels of stutter when playing, guessing CS2 now basically requires SSD for better access speed?

It's poorly optimized, even 2023 PCs are having a hard time playing without game-breaking stutter.

Anyone who claims it's running great are paid shills, review bots, and valvesimps.

Iunno, I have no issues after first few rounds, I only get stutters when something new has to load in, this is why my guess with read speed issues

the game is not optimized but why the hell are you playing on HDD you must enjoy loading the map for 10 minutes the hard drive isn't what makes a game stutter it's actually your CPU but in this case it's the game itself!

No, game stutters are not always CPU bound issue, especially ones that go away after some time playing, this heavily suggests file access time issues.
And I am playing on HDDs because out of all PC parts, second hand SSDs are not all that common

Running the game of a HDD still works great for me, if we aren't accounting loading times for launching the game of course. It's probably something else in your system. Or it could be if you are using your HDD as the boot drive and not just a game drive making it slow.

Well, it's a WD Green from roughly 2010's, so it's on low end as far as HDDs go
I'm not masochistic enough to boot from it, it's just slow

You can buy a ssd for less than 8 euro already. Intenso 128gb ssd.

Yeah sorry I have higher priority expenses than my PC's storage, especially since I have been able to play on this HDD quite easily for all those years

I have CS2 installed on HDD, don't have any stutters. Dust 2 loading takes 4-5 seconds.
Though it is a new 7200rpm one.

Hmmm, in that case it's probably just barely not fast enough, using RAID 0 with one of the spares should fix the issue
Thanks for the info

Installed it on 5400RPM HDD that uses USB 2.0 Case, works fine. Loading times are mess but other than that no stutters
