Where'd my surround sound go?
I don't wear headphones, I'm talking physical 5.1 speakers. My mic activates a duck for the speakers to prevent feedback.

Give me real audio back. Headphones lame. Shake my house, good.

Yeah, sad story - It's limited to Stereo output at the moment.
Hopefully this is not a permanent limitation...

WOW i just tried cs2 for the first time in 6 years (6 years ago i stopped playing csgo) and the soundscape is a tragedy like i've never experienced before. it sounds like i'm underwater, a catstrophy making it unplayable. super muffled and damp and only working on my 2 front speakers (i've a 5.1 system, hate playing with headphones, prefer my great high quality 5.1 system).

this literally makes the game completely unplayable, valve kills cs with cs2 o_O

Same here. These guys have removed dolby surround support.

So stupid. 5.1 Surround sound DTS / Dolby has worked for me without any problem before the CS2 update.

I used 7.1 headphones and they were great in CSGO, crisp, I could exactly pinpoint where the sounds were coming from and now they sound too muffled, watery, too low overall and directional sounds are messy.

Same story on my end, 5.1 surround sound with physical speakers. CS2 just plays everything in an awkward flavour of stereo.

And in the same situation. I use 7.1 and in csgo I could play at least in 5.1 but here it’s only stereo

I think they removed it for one reason: The majority of players don't use physical 5.1 or 7.1 speakers. They use headphones. For headphones the virtual surround is enough.

well, some players use physical 5.1, and it costs them nothing to *bring it back*, not invent it or smth
