CS2 Not Compatible with MacOS
So I noticed there's a lot of posts and questions regarding CS2 on Mac devices, so I'm going to answer all the questions I've come across.

Valve has stopped supporting MacOS in CS2 and has so far made no comment on it. No one knows if they are working on releasing it on Mac or have just dropped it completely.

Nothing you try will allow you to run CS2 OFFICIALLY on a Mac device. I have tried verifying files, uninstalling and reinstalling, relaunching steam, and all the other usual methods, none of these work.

The only way to play CS2 on a Mac is to use an application or tool such as Apple Bootcamp or Parallel that allows you to launch Windows or Linux on your Mac.

Previously CS:GO displayed the little Apple logo that meant that Apple devices were compatible to play CS:GO, CS2 does not have this, and there is no MacOS section under supported devices.

All the Mac users (such as myself) who played CS:GO will either have to give up the game, find an alternative way to play it, or purchase a new device.

What Valve has done is stupid and lazy and they have just lost a large portion of the CS player base.

Valve should work on making CS2 available for MacOS, make a way to switch back CS:GO, as it is not only Mac users who are disappointed with CS2, or provide a refund to all those who now have skins that they can't play with.

Currently I'm installing Parallel to play CS2 so we'll see how that goes.

I had extremely low fps in the main menu when running on parallels.
MacOS sonoma has a way to run win games I found some ways, but didn't try it yet because I want to wait for official news from valve, which I think we will never hear.

To be fair, unless you have statistics to prove it... nobody played CS:GO on Mac devices. I bet they saw the majority played on PC/Windows and decided to focus on that instead of wasting time, money, and resources for a very small amount of users who want to play Counter-Strike on Mac devices.

It sucks but when people think of PC gaming, they know it's Windows and many... many other huge franchises also don't waste their time porting games over for Mac. I know big games like Fortnite, Apex Legends, etc. do but it wouldn't make sense for CS when it's dominantly Windows users.

I highly... highly doubt Valve would ever issue skin refunds over this, to be honest.

I'm sure people played CS:GO on a Mac but have to be realistic. If only a couple thousand got affected but MILLIONS are on Windows that Valve has the stats to focus on that, unfortunately it is what it is. That would be like console players also wanting it on console when CS is purely a PC game. Even CS:GO on Xbox was a flop so they probably learned from that too. Sometimes you have to make the switch if you really want to enjoy whatever games you want to play in the long-term.

damn, thanks for the info man. I've wasted 2 hours installing/uninstalling, verifying. deleting cache files and blah blah blah. Now I would just uninstall the whole game, since valve ain't giving support to macos atm. Hope they would do so soon since CSGO is the only game in my library that's supported by macos "previously"

CS:GO was an 11-year-old game that back then, I'm sure a lot more people played it on Mac. Times have changed and I can totally see Valve keeping it Windows-only if 95 percent or more play the game that way. Might not be worth the time, money, or resources to have it on Mac if it's not worth it for such a small amount of gamers.

I'm one of those who played on macOS. I was truly happy when it was released on macOS (I was actually on a hackintosh due to work) but having the possibility to play CS right after work was a joy. Now, I see that we were able to download the update but there is no OSX binary anywhere for x86_64 nor Apple Silicon.
Too bad, it was running like a charm on my M2 Max constantly getting 300fps (even more on mods like KZ)

use a linux distro

Oh the poetic justice. Cs2 native on Linux day 1, but not macOS. I mean, a lot more work has gone into improving gaming on Linux than Apple has ever done, so not actually surprising.

But all that said, don't fret. There's a macOS beta version for cs2 listed on steamdb, so maybe they still need to iron something out before they bring it to macOS.

Maybe next time pick an actual gaming OS, like Linux ;)

Ive been quite loyal to CS for some time now and I am a mac user. It is sad to see that Valve did this and there are definitely way more than a few thousand CS players who use mac. This is incredibly frustrating considering me and other mac users have invested a lot of money into the game, and for us to be completely locked out and thrown under the bus like that is kinda pathetic. I don't know how experienced you guys are with mac, but using bootcamp or any of that other stuff really is just bad. It becomes laggy and slow and completely wastes all the power mac offers. It is also very annoying to set up. So if Valve does not plan on adding mac to compatibility then they should really consider refunding us.
