If they had CS GO even as its own store page it'd let those low end PCs still enjoy it. You could play CS GO well on an older laptop with on-board graphics just fine. It's a shame that has gone now for no reason. CS Source is still around.

I am literally running an i5 3570k, that is an 11-year-old CPU. I can run the game on max. You are absolutely due for an upgrade.

It's probably laptop users who don't have separate GPUs. Those before could run CS GO just fine. Now they're locked out (I guess like the mac players...).

True, but it can't make PCs from 2006 to run a game from 2020s

It's 2023 and source engine is over 20 years old now. If you can't run CS 2 it's probably time to upgrade anyways.

Yes, it was surprising just how old a laptop or PC could run CS GO smoothly. For people on a budget, kids, people in developing countries, those who don't want to get a gaming machine as the current does all the office/work stuff fine, ect. it's a rough move to pull on them.

Especially as some of these people bought it and now it's been snatched away and replaced with something they didn't want and can't even play. They even deleted everyone's achievements which suck as what's the point of having them if they just get blanked at random? There's no memories any more then.

CSGO 2 should have been a new store page same as when they moved from CS Source to CSGO.

They should at the very least have CSGO 1 on its own page for those who want to keep playing it, those with low hardware who can only play that but not 2 and those curious to try it in years to come. Community server only would be fine, just like with other legacy games that people enjoy and a ton of other non-valve games.

It's not the same "source engine" as that old original one any more than the current Unreal Engine is the same one that powered UT99.

i know it's a crazy idea, but you can even play other games on it... but if you just play csgo anyway, stick to that. no upgrade needed.

but seriously... that ancient pc needs to be replaced/upgraded. how does anyone except a 10+ year old pc to run new games? come one, common sense... smh

I didn't say it was. I just stated that the source engine (CS:GO) is over 20 years old now. CS 2 runs on a source 2.
