I'm using Pipewire 0.3.80 (latest release), and I have the same problem.
It seems the game does not find my output device (stereo speaker) as it does not appear in the device list in the audio settings menu.

I'm running pipewire on pop os, but it doesn't even see CS2 as using audio. if you launch it then change to a device that isn't in use (like hdmi or a different sound card) you'll find that changing the system device to the one playing audio from CS2 will outright crash pipewire with a "Device or resource busy" error. I'm relatively sure they're directly opening the raw audio device instead of using an api.

Here's one fix that should work with pulseaudio and possibly with pipewire too:

Create a file called .asoundrc to your home directory (make note of the dot, its a hidden file) with the following contents:

type pulse

ctl.!default {
type pulse
}

Its a configuration file for alsa and should make it work with pulseaudio. I'm not sure if it needs some changes with pipewire, as I use pulseaudio myself
