FALSE CS:GO/CS2 overwatch ban
Hello,

First, I have to mention I'll ignore all ♥♥♥♥ about "upgrading" to Windows 10/11, or laughing because I use an old OS. I'm absolutely fine on my Windows 7. But it seems like CS2 isn't.

My account got a red trust factor after I've played a single online Deathmatch game in CS2. Then, around a week later, I got Overwatch banned for nothing.
I've NEVER cheated on any account in my life, online or offline.

Also I have to mention I had to have "-allow_third_party_software" in game launch properties, because otherwise CS2 doesn't work. And I didn't think it'd end like this.

I've seen some people cover this topic here before, and it's sad to see Valve moderators trying to ignore the problem.

I don't care if you close this thread, but I hope I (and many others) won't lose an account and money because of this whole thing...

UPDATE 03/10/2023: I (and I think most of the people affected) got unbanned today. Thank you, Valve.

However, I don't know if it's now safe to play CS2 on Windows 7. I still can't run the game without "-allow_third_party_software" launch option, and I don't want to get banned again.

I think I'll just wait for some more formal Valve announcement regarding that topic...

Thats what they all say

there is no overwatch since months, so joke on you.
and before you blame it on windows 7 and you say that vac has issues on windows 7, then it is your fault for using third party apps, another lesson to never cheat again or you will get the same result over and over again.
(you are polish so it is very clear that you are cheater).

Even if you weren't cheating, anything that hooks into the CS2/CSGO process can very easily be considered a cheat, VAC doesn't see your screen so it doesn't know the difference between legit 3rd party software and cheating software - all it sees is something hooking into the game that's not a whitelisted executable.

There's something up with windows 7 and CS2 right now, people are being banned for playing the game on that OS, I'd advise you not to play the game on there until Valve reverts the ban and fixes the issue

but if it bans stuff that is not cheating its banning innocent users, even discord hooks to the executable so yeah, and i trust valve, i doubt they would ban without verify if the thing is a cheat in the first place.

Welcome to the Win7 club, you are not alone. Just ignore all these bots, there is a real issue with Win7 and CS2/VACnet. All you can do right now is contact steam support and react to your ban message and explain the situation, best to link these topics here in the forums.

Errorneus bans happen and isnt new to valve, krimz was vac banned because of compatibility issues with a thrid partys site anticheat and vac

OS seems to be common factor between people who got banned in recent days. It is not officially confirmed but if people who got banned are telling truth (only they know if they cheated not any others players, AI based banning system is poissed to sooner or later produce sizable amount of false positives) then it is likely that there is direct or indirect connection between OS and false bans.

It is but at the same time AI based banning system cannot be 100% trusted so any ban itself is questionable especially if you yourself don't inspect gameplay of banned person and also if you know that someone is banned can mean that your opinion is biased. This whole thing is just a mess becouse banning system has non 0 probability of producing multiple false positives with common factor.
