[BUG] - CS2 - Rating Per Match
Welp, i didnt see many people with this problem, aside from some reddit posts. I`ve been playing with my friends, and for every match i was earning +300 Rating Points per win, and -100 per lose.

But out of the blue, i started earning +100 rating points per win, and -300 per lose (as if valve inverted the values). That means that i need to win 4 matches in a row per loss to get a positive result.

It`s important to notice that i didnt have any kind of win/lose streak to justify this change.

Does anyone had this problem or know the cause of it?

It's not a bug. That is how Valve decided to make their own godawful SBMM system, ignoring decades of existing SBMM systems that were at least somewhat functional.

Essentially the amount of elo +/- is only determined by the number of matches you win or lose in a row.

  • lose 5 matches in a row -300/+100
  • win 5 matches in a row -100/+300

Every other 5v5 SBMM system is primarily based on your team's average elo score compared to the other team.

In CS2, an 8K team playing against a 12k team can lose more elo than they would gain, while the 12k team could gain more elo than they lose.

I'm always top frag/dmg on my matches, and I'm being punished for getting bad teammates... Great!. Anyways, Thank you for explaining to me man.

Yeah, all of the existing SBMM systems for 5v5 only look at your win/loss comparative to other people's win/loss while completely ignoring individual performance. We can thank lazy mathematicians for copying 1v1 chess SBMM as the base to create 5v5 SBMM.

Part of me actually thought Valve would be the first ones to innovate SBMM and look at individual performance considering HLTV, Leetify, and other 3rd parties were figuring out ways to calculate individual ratings based on performance.

Never expected Valve to do this though...
