What will happen to CS:GO Steam Achievements?
I wonder with the new CS2 update this summer, will all the CS:GO Steam Achievements be removed or even replaced with new ones specifically for CS2? Or do you think they'll be kept and maybe they'll just add a whole bunch of new Steam Achievements just for CS2?

I think they'll keep the CS:GO ones and just add probably hundreds of new ones for CS2, combining them all. I'm curious what you all think will ultimately happen...

they can't ignore it as it's a card purchase

Yeah, I'm thinking maybe they just wipe them clean, MAYBE give everyone a special achievement if you earned one in CS:GO or something, and then have hundreds of new ones for CS2.

I agree, this totally may be an option - they forgot it in prior updates before, so It might happen again (for example, an update changed the window physics on Office, making the achievement non-achievable on it w/o a workshop map.)

They may be reworked, but my bets are that they will stay the same. (CS2 is still CS:GO at its roots, duh.)
Either way, you'll probably need to pull up a workshop map for the more niche stuff.

Achievements on steam are worthless. Most of csgo's achievements are just copy pasted ones from css, it'll likely be the same for cs2.

They will remain the same, literally NOTHING will change.

I highly doubt there will be new achievements.

Well, my thing is, how will they remain the same? There are some Steam Achievements for CS:GO that came out over a decade ago that you can't even unlock since the maps or whatever aren't even in the game anymore unless you use a Workshop one. I just think it would make the most sense to leave the CS:GO ones, give everyone that played CS:GO a special one before the big update (kind of like the one before Danger Zone was added/CS:GO became F2P), and then add a bunch more just for CS2.

those old achievements can be resolved with workshop achievement maps

i dont see them fixing achievements when so many other things are a priority

I guess but it would make logical sense to either delete the CS:GO ones and introduce hundreds of new ones while giving anyone that's played CS:GO before a certain date a special rare Steam Achievement. That way, you satisfy those that love getting Steam Achievements but also give everyone an even playing field in earning new ones all over again.

I guess we'll see when the time comes. I'm still patiently waiting for CS2 beta access, if it's even coming...

It will remain the same as in, the currently broken achievements... will remain broken.

Remember when they added Danger Zone? they added 0 achievements to the game, i'm 80% sure the the latest achievements added are like 7 years old lol.

LoL I hope that's not the case but you never know with Valve. I'm also curious as to why they haven't bothered to add more people to the CS2 beta? I have friends that got it that tell me the queue times are really long now since nobody is really playing as much. This company boggles my mind, I swear.

I think you're right. CS:GO has some achievements that cannot be completed by official means anymore because of removal of related maps. Since CS 2 will replace CS:GO as an update, many other CS:GO achievements might share the same fate. That's why I'm trying to complete last 2 achievements before CS 2 comes out.

Smart idea! Good luck with those :-)
