CPU & GPU nerds which is bottlenecking CS2 ?
Kind of an older computer here. GTX 970 and an i7-4790k which one would be limiting fps more? Probably the gpu right? I know CS is intensive on cpu's but I still think my gpu is probably what's really behind. Would you guys agree?

neither - it is still the source engine and it's running on every pentium 4. but for example: i get 300 fps on max with my i7 10700, rtx 3070, 32gb ram.

to put it short, if you play at max settings then your gpu will hold you back

Except it's not exactly the source. It's source 2 which utilizes your hardware in a different manner. Now you can actually benefit from good multi threaded performance. This is good news for owners of modern hardware.

So what the hell does this mean;
Low settings = cpu at ~50% and gpu at ~60-70% but fps is still only 80-110 (70 in some cases when a lot is going on) but cpu & gpu never really go over 70%
Highest settings = cpu at ~70% and gpu still only ~80-90% not maxing out at 100% for some reason and performance is terrible at like 50 fps
Memory is fine too was only using like 9/16 or something so that's not the issue.
Shouldn't utilisation always be near 100% for gpu or cpu and my fps be higher?
only gpu can reach high %.
sounds like its still more a cpu thing.
So cpu only at 50% could still be the issue? Shouldn't the utilisation be higher if it was the thing that's bottlenecking?
