our account is compromised, you are not banned, it's a scam attempt.
DO. NOT. TRADE.
Do not trade even if the message tells you that you only have X time left.
Do not trade, or you will loose your items due to automates set up by the scammer.
Do not trade at all, even if you are sure it's the correct account you are sending to.
They want you to iniate a trade, that's how the scam works. So not trade.
Steps to take NOW:
1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
3. Change passwords from a clean computer. If you used that passwords for another website, change it over there too.
4. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
5. Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)
6. Change your trade link
Profile > your inventory > trade offer > Who can send me trade offer > scroll down and make a new trade link.
7. Report the scamming account to support if you are already scammed :Help (top left) > Steam support > CS GO > problem with item > I was scammed
(Replace the game if it's not CS GO items - support cannot give those back, but can ban the bot account)
The whole point of it is to force you to initiate a trade and a bot will cancel and redo a trade instantaneously that you would beleive is the correct one but is not, it will be a bot copying the receiver account almost perfectly in less than one second, you will confirm it but that's the fake account and your items will be send to that other account and lost.
They can do that because they have set up an API key for that, through you connecting to a weird website one day, and they just need you to confirm the (compromised without you realizing) trade through your app.
If you lost your item already, you cannot get those back, that's just an unfortunate expensive life lesson.
Hope you managed to properly safeguard your account against these scammers now OP.
Need to be careful since they will try every trick in the book these days.
unfortunately i've been in too many car crashes, and you are correctamundo.
I dont remember smashing my face through the windshield and landing in an irrigation ditch in one of those crashes but i will forever recall the sound and awful feeling of the emergency room nurses scrubbing the glass shards and dirt out of my wounds with an oversized toothbrush, as i was passing in/out of consciousness.
always wear a seat belt.
hard experiences in life are the greatest of lessons. trust me lol but dont ever get in a car with me.
Don't beat yourself up over it and take it as a learning lesson. Most of us have been scammed in one way or another, I have also for quite a bit of money (outside of Steam).
Important thing is to learn and safeguard your account and be vigilant moving forward,
I get that it costed a lot of money but what is done is done and I know it's a bitter pill to swallow but it will be easier when you can just move on from it and put it behind you.
i have faced off with this scammer today, fortunately i had already know how they act,
Firstly, they approach as a valve fraud department, they can manage everything on your account. They are also capable closing the support requests, they block and remove all my friends, now i am waiting response from support in order to how can i secure my account.
