1. You have to put the cfg in "Counter-Strike Global Offensive>game>csgo>cfg"
2. For example your cfg is named "autoexec.cfg". Do not use the ".cfg"
-> use "autoexec" (autoexec.cfg)
3. check your file if its realy a CFG-File (has to be)
To prove:
1. Open up CS2
2. Open console
3. write in console: "exec autoexec" (or your name of your config and without"")
Extra:
to see prove maybe write in config: echo "Successfully loaded xxx Config" (required "")
try doing this.
go to :
"Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\csgo\cfg\autoexec.cfg"
{right-click} > property
look under the general Tab
Type of file:
It must be: `Configuration Source File (.cfg)`
if it is : `Configuration Source File (.txt)`
change its extension.
save the file and then go in game and execute this command
exec autoexec.cfg
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> WORKAROUND FIX <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
******************************************************************
i have found the following
go to :
"Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\csgo\cfg\
copy a random .cfg file from this folder to another folder ( for editing )
open this file notepad, >>>>> ensure you deselect "always open this type" <<<<
copy your text into this file and then rename to what you want
Ill use CS2settings.cfg
then just save >>>>> do not use "save as<<<<
then copy this file into:
"Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\csgo\cfg\
--------------
i found that file created in note pad or wordpad wont load, but using a .cfg file from the game already and editing the contents had fixed this issue.
Happy exec'n
just make sure you know which drive its on,
C or D
