Valve doesn't sell any Counter-Strike skins directly. All skin prices are decided by the community.
No, in order to get those skins, you need to open boxes, which cost a key and those keys can only obtained with real money.
I live in The Netherlands and I can only sell lootboxes. We can't obtain in any way keys, because the lootboxes in CS GO is against our gambling laws. So, I'm forced to buy skins off the market.
And besides Valve get a small cut off anything that's being sold on the market. They might not sell skins directly, but they still sell those keys and they get a cut aswell from the Market. So, yes they still earn money with skins.
The game is free, you can perfectly play it without skins. And besides, some skins are very cheap.
Where exactly did I say that Valve doesn't make money? Valve clearly makes money. Nobody is disputing that.
I'm just talking in a general way.
I don't agree with "Valve doesn't sell skins directly." Because you still need to obtain a key from valve for real money to obtain the skin.
I would agree with you if Valve would allow people to upload their skin and the owner of the skin started to sell it on the market directly, without even appearing in a lootbox where you need to have a key to open.
The OP says that they are "overpriced". The prices are set by the community. Some skins are worth $0.03.
