There is no option to check my mic in game by myself
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7pr6CmLoVk
I'd always go to Steam -> Settings -> Voice and it'd work fine, so I was confused why it wouldn't work in game since they use the same settings. Turns out they NO LONGER use that setting, as of the Steam UI update.
In-game, open the overlay, then click on the gear (settings). That settings menu has a "Voice" option, same as before, but also an "In-game" voice option. I had to switch my default device in here away and back to my Snowball for it to detect. This menu is a little jank, it seems, as it has a delay to open the windows input device selection, then you need to tell it when you are done. But the mic tester in this menu seems in line with the game, the test itself wasn't working until I switched and switched back.
Went back into the random DM I was AFK in, said "mic test?" and was promptly told to "shut the ♥♥♥♥ up", which I couldn't be happier to hear.
The microphone remains normal in everything else, Windows, Discord, and Steam itself, except in CS2.
I also tried another different microphone, the problem persisted. I tried all the possible solutions listed here, but all without success.
I had no alternative other than to simply send an email reporting the problem to Valve, and I hope that they are aware of the problem and fix it as soon as possible.
