CS2 - MIC NOT WORKING - [!SOLUTION!]
A new update has fixed this issue. Open CS2, go to Settings > Audio and select your input device and adjust your mic threshold!

FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO hopefully FIX YOUR IN-GAME MIC

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR MIC ACTUALLY WORKS BEFORE DOING ANY OF THIS. I RECOMMEND USING "AUDACITY": https://www.audacityteam.org/download/

PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL YOUR AUDIO & GRAPHICS DRIVERS ARE UP-TO-DATE (ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE A USB MIC)

SOLUTION 1:
Step 1: Open Steam & launch CS2.
Step 2: Open Steam overlay (Shift+Tab) and open the "Settings" window.
Step 3: Go to the "Voice" tab & select the correct mic/input device.
Step 4: Make sure your "Input/Volume Gain" is set to max & turn off "Voice Transmission Threshold"
Step 5: Now go to the "In-game Voice" tab (it only appears after talking ingame, its a bit random when or if this tab appears)
Step 6: From there you can repeat Step 3 & 4.

SOLUTION 2:
Step 1: Find & open "Sound Control Panel" in Windows.
Step 2: Go to the "Recording" tab & find your correct mic/input device.
Step 3: Make sure to disable all other input devices that you don't want to use (Sometimes CS2 thinks your webcam or game controller is your default mic input).
Step 4: Right-Click on the correct mic/input device and go to "Properties".
Step 5: Go the "Levels" tab and make sure your mic/device input volume is set to 100%.
Step 6: From there you should experiment with the "Microphone Boost" level as this may be the only reason why CS2 is not picking up your mic. I've set mine to 20% but this varies from mic to mic. (NOTE: you might have to lower your input volume on Discord after this.)

SOLUTION 3:
Step 1: Literally just move your mic closer to your mouth or talk louder.

Same situation here. My mic worked perfectly in the game since the beta, until, after last week's updates, it simply stopped.
The microphone remains normal in everything else, Windows, Discord, and Steam itself, except in CS2.
I also tried another different microphone, the problem persisted. I tried all the possible solutions listed here, but all without success.
I had no alternative other than to simply send an email reporting the problem to Valve, and I hope that they are aware of the problem and fix it as soon as possible.

Well, to whom it may concern, I think I found the "solution" (if you can call it a "solution"). The story is long... I spent the last two nights racking my brain over this problem, not trying to find the solution, but at least trying to understand why this problem occurred (I just couldn't admit that something so simple wasn't working .)
The conclusion was the following: my current microphone is mono, and the onboard audio options on my motherboard do not have a single channel option, only a dual stereo channel. As a consequence of this, in some software, one side is muted, while the other side sounds normally.
All software and games that use the microphone for communication automatically realize this situation and pull the correct channel for audio output. With the exception of cs2... ohh cs2... it simply selects the channel that has no audio at all, ignoring the correct channel, and if that wasn't enough, there is simply no option to configure and correct this within the game that could Manually select the correct channel.
Therefore, some people have started using third-party software like voicemeeter to force single-channel mono audio on dual-channel platforms.
In my case, I tried to use voicemeeter for this, but unfortunately it didn't work due to some incompatibility issue.
So the solution in my case was: either buy a stereo microphone (as I'm unemployed this isn't an option at the moment), or the other alternative I had, which also worked, was to use an external sound card (one of those cheap USB ones) just for the microphone.

It's simply ridiculous, a shame that a billion-dollar company like Valve can't develop a simple configuration menu dedicated to the microphone in the game.

I was one of those who most defended this game when it was in the beta, when everyone was rejecting it, but it is more than obvious that this game was released in a hurry before its time, as the game's BASIC functions are still missing.
yeah ive been having to replug mic in and out over and over thru out game play, every 20 min or so it goes out, windows 11 said their are two redistributions going at same time with over 1000 mic request, im sure there latest update to make this game half as good as go fuxxed it up.
This worked for me, just download the software and boost mic via the equalizer to +30dB

I fixed this by enabling Stereo Mix in Windows sound settings under Recording devices tab

HyperX Cloud 2 user here , i took the sponge like cover over de mic and i saw the actual microphone was pointing down, that's why mic worked when yelled at. I pointed it to my mouth and issue was solved.

Same problem. This is due to CS2's noise canceling feature. When you adjust the noise canceling from the Shift+Tab interface, it helps a little, but it does not provide a definitive solution. I got rid of this problem thanks to 3rd party software, but I am waiting for VALVE to notice this, there is still no update regarding this. I have to speak very loudly in the game for people to hear me, I doubt any moderator actually reads what we wrote.
Guys SOLUTION - the setting of optimized using of mic makes your mic useless... If u have turned on this func to prevent ur cs2 freezing, then you should choose to have freezes or not to have mic=) VALVE
Make sure you have the right microphone configured in the windows settings:
Settings -> System -> Sound ---Input device.

for whatever reason CS2 is looking at windows settings instead of steam mic config.
